6n 16 valve breaking - all parts available (except gearbox!)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, regrettably I have been forced into the decision to break my Polo 16 valve (6n), I thought I'd join this Club Polo forum to allow you guys 1st dibs on the parts off the car before I start eBaying bits...

The car's a metallic blue '98 16 valve, done just over 90k and the gearbox has popped (I understand these are made of Chocolate, which is a shame), engine runs sweet, no tappet noise or anything, always had regular oil changes and been looked after. Was in daily use till about six weeks ago, now sat taking up space in my garage as I have bought another car for daily duties.

All panels, bumpers and trim available (everything but the gearbox I guess?), also the car is fitted with FK coilovers, although these will be made available once the shell is disposed of as I need to be able to roll the car to the end of the driveway when the time comes to weigh the shell in.

I'm more than happy to take cuts from the shell to help any of you guys fix rust on yours if you've got welding issues. I say this, but the sills and arches have rust on them so can't help you there.

At the moment, the car has it's front end removed to get the gearbox out, but I haven't started stripping anything else off it, will probs start this weekend and start posting lists into the relevant classifieds section as bits are removed, in the meantime let me know what you need and I'll prioritise getting it off for you.

Larger panels/parts to be collected from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, but happy to post smaller bits and bobs.

Feel free to PM me with enquiries about any of your requirements. I can email pics and a thorough description if you include an email address.

Thanks guys

Aiming to scrap the car in the next week or 2, let me know if you want anything off it before it goes to scrap?

you able to take the sump off and post it?

cheers

  • Author

No mate, it's part of the engine... Can't really sell the engine without the sump! Sorry

What's best price you can do on engine and everything for a conversion? And how many miles is it on?

  • Author

£200 for everything you need conversion wise...

It's got somewhere between 92 and 94,000 on it (can be confirmed with recent MOT certificate). I picked it up at about 74k and changed the oil every 6,000 miles. The previous owner was in his 70's, so not been thrashed all it's life. He'd had the car since it had 40k on the clock. New Bosch plugs and OE leads fitted recently too.

No smoke or rattles. It's a great engine! (you should see what it did to the gearbox!)
