I have just bought a 56/2007 Polo Sport TDI 1.9.

It has a cable connected in the glove box, but when I plug my ipod nano into it, a volkswagen lolg comes up saying "charging not supported by this accessory"

Is there a specific Ipod model that work with this cable? The lead fits the ipod no problem, jsut doent let me play music.

I had a similar thing with an alpine head unit, which worked fine with my mk3 iPod, but would not charge my iPhone.

It appears that when apple switched over from FireWire to USB the newer devices that charge via USB will not charge from older car systems such as is fitted to your car.

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I believe you'd be ok with the first colour devices or earlier. If in doubt, check the charging lead.

Any iPod should still play music through your system, but it's a pain to keep having to charge it elsewhere.

Thanks for your answers. I'm not bothered about it charging. Just want it to play. But when its plugged in, I can't access the iPod menu. Its stick with the vw message. Also, my stereo doesn't have an Aux button....so how would i get it to turn to the ipod?!

I'm gonna try a different iPod, otherwise I'm gonna buy an Fm transmitter I think!
