Vw polo 6n afh thermostat housing help

Featured Replies

Hi I'm looking for a bit of help, I'm in the middle of changing my thermostat housing on my vw polo 16v engine code (afh) I've got a little bit stuck.. I've put the the housing back on but I'm not sure how the plastic clip holds it tight at the back of the engine or am I missing a clip??

This a big clip the slots in from the bottom. It looks like the ones that good the temp senders in but bigger. If you haven't got it and you haven't moved the car then it's doubt somewhere around the car or maybe has fallen behind the starter (ask how I know that :) ) get a light down there and you will find it. If it's lost then it's either a breakers yard or Vw, a new one is better really and will no doubt cost the same then a used one.

There is a groove on the pipe iirc and the clip should slide straight trough it. If the o ring is a bit loose fitting then either replace it or put a bit of sealant around it before slotting it in and leave it to go off before filling the system.

So it's a metal clip not a big plastic clip? I have the plastic clip just wernt sure if it was right.. If so I'm gona have to get a light like you said and have a bit of fun searching lol as it's pretty tight around there..

no it is a big plastic clip and if you have it then you just need to make sure you fit it correctly and the pipe is fully in to the thermostat housing
