Hi everyone!

Newbie on the forum so I'd like to say hello!

Strangely, I haven't got a Polo but I am considering to buy a 6N2 GTi - in 5-door flavour - so I've signed up to see what's what on here. I'm into cars in a massive way (I've had over 50 so far...) and I'm no stranger to the VW's, I've had a '86 Mk2 Golf GTi and an '02 Mk4 Golf GTi, both of which were truly amazing and special cars and I miss them both dearly...

..anyway I've decided to save up for a cheap 6N2 GTi and just getting some inspiration. Hoping I will be able to find one soon! Is there anything I should look out for on these? I've heard the gearboxes can be troublesome just like their big brother, the Golf.....

Yep chocolate gearboxes, clicking sensation in clutch pedal could mean pedal box is knackered

yeah the biggest problem is the gearboxes for sure, so if you're looking to buy one from a non enthusiast who wont know if its been changed or reconditioned, keep that in mind!

I'd personally save up a bit more and get one thats had a box done for peace of mind!

Electric windows is another thing to look out for. Nothing big but in my 6n2 they work fine when there's no rain then get stuck open as it chucks it down!
