Purchased my next polo.... what alloys?

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps.

After many years, and many polo's, I've come back to the scene with a little K redge MK2f Coupe 1.3spi.

She's a lovely little car, that my partner has decided to call Ducky.

Now I've thrown around the ideas of modifications, but now I really can't be arsed xD

I just wanna find a comfortable daily suspension lowering and some sweet looking alloys.

But I have no idea what alloys I want.
I don't wanna go over 14", so I guess my choices are limited to 13" and 14".

i don't particularly wanna do any work to make them fit either xD (i.e. arch rolling and etc)

I would like to have the 6n 16v 14" alloys on there, cause I thought they'd look nice on her.
But would they fit properly??

Just a general brainstorm really as to see what would be nice (and affordable).

It's been a long time since I've driven a mk2 polo, and damn have I missed it. :)

I'll have to give her a good clean and post some pics up.

Any thoughts or input would be most appreciated :)

Thanks once again guys, and it's great to be back :)

You should be okay with most 13s or 14s on a coupe provided they aren't too wide and you go for sensible sized tyres

You'll really need a low-profile tyre with 14's, which can be a bit hard to get hold of.

Would I be looking at 50 or 45 profile Yeti?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention she's running the G40 front brakes as well.

Could that cause any clearance issues with 13" alloys?

no, g40 brakes will be fine, what carriers do you have on them?

That I will have to check, the previous lad set it was just a normal g40 setup, but I will double check soon :)

Any easy identifiers on the carriers??

Hey, I've never used wheelbase.com but their website confidently lists wheels (and tyre packages) that allegedly fit our cars: http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/volkswagen/polo/mk2/14-inch Anyone on here had experience of them? They have a couple of pages of 14" wheels but even more choice of 15"s. The 14"s come with 50 profile tyres and the 15"s with 45s.
