scene tax probably. il have a chat with someone i know who was supposed to be getting one from germany as a spare and see if he got it

There is no point on scene tax for these engines, they are useless without a set of forged pistons and those are only available in batches of six! You could opt for JE ones, but then you would need to do the technical math

Or I may simply want a diesel engine!

Couple of things, people are surely allowed to put items up for any price they want free from criticism. As is often said, items are worth what people are willing to pay. Additionally is anyone on here aware of prices I have considered/accepted? My circumstances have changed considerably since I first put the engine for sale. I was in no rush to sell at the time, but if someone wanted the engine and was willing to pay the asking then I was happy to let it go. Alternatively I'd hold on to it if not. Mk1 approached me about the engine and since I'm trying to consolidate all my parts under one roof, and I'm unlikely to ever make use of the engine (as was originally planned) I'm willing to accept considerably less. The same comments were made about the kamei skirts about scene tax and again the story is the same; I'm not wanting to sell them but if someone wants to pay a larger sum then I would consider selling. I'd understand the comments if I was moaning about why my parts weren't selling but I haven't mentioned it. Why people feel the need to comment is beyond me. I think it's pretty unfair to claim I'm adding scene tax when only a few years ago I was trying to give parts away and have done since. If people want to make comments about price, I ask that it's only those who are interested in actually buying.

You admit yourself that you are asking a 'larger sum' for them, trying to charge people well over the odds is adding scene tax. So by your own admittance your doing what people are saying your doing, so I don't see what point you're trying to make?

You were asking 200+ for the skirts, they sell for half that on the open market (I sold mine for 120, Eric paid less than that posted from germany and he missed a set on ebay for something silly like £20).

People can ask anything they like for something, but if its well over the odds you're opening yourself up for criticism, look no further than the scene tax thread. When you are trying to rip off fellow enthusiasts you deserve to get the piss taken out of you, and asking twice the market value of some skirts just because someone is desperate for a pair is trying to rip them off no matter how you try and justify it.

and buying something off someone- who did you a favor by selling it cheap to you- then putting it up for sale at an extortionate amount is like pissing in my pocket and telling me its raining.

I didn't price the skirts at £200. I said to Eric to offer me a price and i didn't want to sell at the offered price. He didnt offer £200. But my point stands, I'm wanting to hold on to them but I someone wants to pay a muh larger sum, I'll see them go. Supply and demand, which is a phrase I have heard used on here by some.

As for the engine, kiz I totally see what you're saying, and appreciate your stand point. However, you sold me parts that on their own are pretty worthless. Plus you could have charged anything you wanted for them, it was your decision. However, the original price I had priced the engine at was speculative in hind sight. I want aware you had done me a favour selling it cheap, I merely thought you wanted rid of it

But in the end it really Is no one else's business except the seller and buyer. If people have similar parts for sale, then undercut. But whilst people don't have those parts to sell then they have no place commenting on others threads.

Its clear that you haven't grasped the meaning of the term 'supply and demand', the people Eric has gone to to buy his skirts are supplying people with what they demand, you are just trying to rip off people that you think are desperate enough to pay well over the odds. Thus far no one has been silly enough to buy these skirts so your not supplying anything, so how is the term supply and demand even relevant?

The other term that is used on here is scene tax, just to clear things up for you this is the term describing your actions, not supply and demand

If I see someone trying to rip off a fellow enthusiast I point it out, after all that's what we are here for, to look out for each other

i offered £150 which i thought was waay more than they are worth, i have just spent a fair amount on another set, but thats purely for the fact they are currently in the post all the way from germany, yet still only cost me £100 all in.

the parts which i sold you were worthless? i could have bolted them back up to the block and had a full diesel engine-supply and demand and all that i should have charged you 5times the amount.

it really bugs me that instead of just saying sorry for doing it- you carry on trying to justify it. to think i actually tried to help you with your car when you were struggling with the painting.

anyway - back to original post, its my understanding its just a block so no engine- good luck with the engine you buy chap- there is a thread on clubg40 about a bloke who has turbo'd one for good power and economy

I stand corrected in that case Eric, apologies. But I think saying I won't accept offers below a certain amount is different to saying I want X amount. Essentially i was sayong i dont want yo sell these. i even told tou i didnt think they were worth thst. And no one has been silly enough because I haven't put them up for sale. For the last time I'm not trying to sell them!

And yes kiz, you could have done just that and that would have been your choice. I haven't ripped any body off as no one has paid over the odds for anything. Regarding this engine, I'll admit to wanting to make a profit an md I feel there's nothing wrong with that. I know how this place works and any price that you put up is often knocked down as people make offers. £400 may have been the asking price and £250 would have been a price I would have been happy to take. Yes a profit of a few notes, but also fuel covered for the travel etc. again, if people don't like prices they don't have to pay. Simple. And I've accepted a lower offer than that if the lad is still interested.

As for sorry, who do I apologise to? I've wronged no one here.
