I recently got a package of bits and it came with a Newman 272 cam and vernier pulley. I primarily bought the package for the gearbox and head. But now I'm wondering if I could use the cam as it came in the head but have no idea what engine it came off. If I can could anyone guide me to using the vernier pulley and how to set it up as I have never used one before. I searched and couldn't find a answer. Any help would be great.

My engine spec is ported and polished get head on a non gt 1.3 bottom end. 4 branch manifold and bike carbs I will be putting the head on soon possibly this weekend. So just need it. Clearing up.

Well looks like I will be swapping the heads over tomorrow. So does any one have any idea if the cam will work or will it be trial and error ie fit the cam time to standard marks and see if there's contact?

Gives the specs, so you can set for max lift with a DTI gauge.

Bit worried by the "Notes. Good Mid Upper Range Power,will not run on Std Injection System" comment though.

Erm, a 6N 16v has inlet and exhaust cams?

Well it's going in a 1.3 mk2 jetta and it's on bike carbs so not standard injection. I'm pretty sure I know the diffrence between 8v and 16v thanks for the link though

For any one looking to do this I fitted it up in a ported and polish head and still used the standard pierburg carb and stock exhaust and to see what benifits it had. It is so much more responsive and much nicer to driver any below 3000 isn't great but anything above that and it picks up well. I tried the stock pulley aswell and this was no good so I used the vernier and ate it up for max lift so it does fit with no clear ace issues. I'll keep this posted as the 4 branch goes on and then a bike carbs set up and will get bhp figures up once rolling roaded
