More fresh meat!

Hi there folks.

I've been involved in the Volkswagen air-cooled scene for longer than I care to say (I have a '67 bay window bus which is 'newer' than me...), but my recently acquired '92 Mk2F (or is that Mk3?) is only my second water cooled VW. That '90 2.0 Passat estate was awesome, here's hoping this 1.3 coupe will be just as good! I picked it up locally via the A/C network as a fun and cheaper to run alternative to my Alfa 156 sportwagen daily driver.

It came with a pile of receipts, every mot certificate (confirming the 101k mileage) plus the original owners wallet complete with all the handbooks and even the business card of the salesman who sold the car new at VW/Audi dealers, 'T.Hayselden (Doncaster) Limited' to a Mr.N.T.Hemmingway of Sheffield. I don't think the last couple of owners (I'm the 5th) cared for it as I presume Mr Hemmingway did, as there are various little dents here and there (very little rust though) and the interior could do with a fair portion of tlc. The plan is to start using it at the end of the month when the tax runs out on the Alfa. I've done the usual oil, filters, plug change along with timing belt and water pump, just need to sort out why the clutch biting point is so close to the floor. It's as if the cable has stretched, I'll be posting in the 'technical' section regarding the self adjusting cable, but that's another story and I've waffled on enough already!

Seems nice and friendly/helpful on here so far, much better than some other forums, happy days!!! 8)
