hi all, first build thread :) brought this back in may for 300 quid bargin, was completly original with tax and mot all looked good. aim was to do trackday at castle combe with mates in there minis on the 28th october

so this is how it started

i then started to remove all trims this showing all the holes and massive rush patches, before being fixxed all solid now.

started cming on here for insperation and look at bike carb builds and found out a load of information on setting up parts needed, i then brought vac advance dizzy with loom+amp carbs and set about removing all the bit i didnt need ecu crap like that....

i then made a inlet manifold at work little bit of a bodge but works

scanning the classified adds daily came across some g40 brake with new pads and prety much new disks i also brought braided brake hose to go with this and painted the calipers gold

brought ap springs and shock 60/60 kit looked very good well made too, also brought new top mounts track rod ends and bottom arms

my brother wrote his mini off it was genuine sports pack and he gave me the wheels with new tyres

test fitted brakes and wheels after machineing centre bores to suit the hubs

fitted wheels and prety chuffed with how it looks still kinda high...

next thing was suspension and all other bits to go with, it looked like this after not to low wanted it to

drive not scrub out

carbs first time with bike carbs so took them apart to see how they worked and were the jets and other bits and bobs were.

carbs fitted and ran ok very rich as mixture screw was way out better rich than lean my mates said had mot on friday the 27th hadnt driven the car yet and track day was the nextday had to rush passed mot and had tracking done was miles out didnt like turning on the way to mot station... anyway track day woooo made it to the track 90 mile drive used a tank of fuel tho found the k&n style filters bogged it down and made it drink the fuel runs much better with a sock cable tied over the trumpet

went scrap yard on a wim and found this gt steering wheel on a mk3 golf i asked the guy he said a fiver couldnt say no to that

and thats all for around a month on the car, finished running my gti and couldnt sell it. engines mint so putting that in this over the winter. have been stripping that today but pee'd it down so went in and mocked up inlet manifold for that..

buy nodiz ignition friday tidy bay up and paint bits and bobs

finish inlet and tig weld up

buy 4-2-1 manifold

full exhasut stainless twin box system 2"

buy poly engine mounts

buy or make arb blocks to fit manifold

keep eye out for stage3 subframe

fit stregthed gt rear beam with poly bush

rolling road too

the bay atm will be respraying before new engine is fitted and all wiring tucked away and tidy

hi all, been way to busy to work on car much these past few weeks brought alot of things:

polybushes

avy stainless exhaust manifold

aluminum arb blocks

black carpets

poly engine mounts

oil catch tank

brought trigger wheel

anyway loads more to buy :( why am i doing this :@

the engine had a slight knock, i had rebuilt it around 7k miles ago had head skimmed new guides and valve seats cut with the valves being refaced so decided to put some new shells in as i wanted the peace of mind that the engines mint now

made the engine mount plate for the 3rd bolt i use 5mm thick mild steel and welded a nut in the back for the 3rd bolt, i the skimmed 5mm off the back of the engine mount at work in my lunch

anyway engines in :D

sump clearance is around 4"s with 13" steels with 70 tyres i will be getting some 14"s with 55 tyres plus making a bash guard as the drive to my mates farm is crazzzyyyy

thats around it for a week or two will be fitting the carbs and working out what I'm going to do with the trigger wheel issue.

Why not use the AVY trigger wheel?

Will upload a pic of the sensor tonight its like no other sensor I've seen :/ gona do same kinda thing youve done with yours using the small V pulley and make a spacer to sit the wheel on with the bracket for the vr sensor coming of the back of the block

Why? It's a Hall effect not a VR I believe

Yeah halls not compatible with the nodiz, where did you get your trigger wheel from?

I'm sure I read the other day a VR6 sensor is a VR type not hall, but will fit where the hall would.
