And ye I was too, well worth the money for the change it made

_{Small update, not a good one unfortunatly.}

_{So been having a few small issues with the GTI, first was an electrical fault causing the engine to run on 3, traced the problem down to a fault HT lead which was shorting onto the rocker cover. Unfortunatly this fried the coil at the same time so had to buy a new coil}

_{Decided to buy the best coil I could, cost a lot but seems to make her run much better, done a bodge repair on the lead until I can afford some performance Magnecore 8.5mm ones}

_{Then as I put everything back together gave it a bit of a clean (love the look of the standard GTI bay)}

_{So one problem sorted and onto the next. So as I mentioned she was running better than ever before, so after fixing the elctrical fault Wednesday day, my gearbox decided that it prfered being a 4 speed that same Wednesday night}

_{I think its a selector issue as there wasnt any grinding or horrible noises, it just slipped out of 5th then I couldnt find it again. The other gears work fine. Will have a look this weekend.}

rele liking the gti pal :) . cant wait to bag my own now :) . yeh gti boxes are terrible . had to get mind reconditioned . id say most people own a gti had to or will have too .

I knew the GTI's always had a common problem with gearboxes when I brought the car, didnt expect it to go so quick lol. The gearbox is only about 13-14 months old (just out of warrenty, typical!)

Looking sick man! Did the teledials take long to do? I've been sitting on the fence about doing mine like that and can't quite decide on them, they definitely look good with the red though :)

Been way to long since I've updated this!

Lots has happened including the gearbox change, airride install, coilover install, airride install (again) then off the road for a small rebuild. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

That was it for the first install, full autopilot V2 hidden behind rear door card running 1/4" lines all round. Managed to get it all finished just in time for Modified Nationals where I was camping with my local club. A few images below from that weekend.

Wicked weekend but did through up a number of problems with the airride (exactly why I shouldn't have brought second hand), mainly the lines popping off. Luckily, the autopilot manifold was 3/8 so after a quick call to Car Audio Security new 3/8 lines and fittings were ordered :)

Shortly after the single compressor burnt out just in time for Polo show, with funds low I had to put her back on coilovers. Few snaps taken while at Polo Show, had a great time once again!

Once funds allowed, I ordered my new compressors, a pair of Viair 444C, after reading reviews they seemed to be the best value for money. So set bout installing everything again with the dual comprssors in the boot.

After this I didnt have any more issues thank god, so started enjoying it and taking it to a few shows. She also 3 wheels now!

Due to tracking issues, I scrubbed out the front tyres so had to put it on some fake BBS that I got cheap off a mate, only £100 with tyres :)

Final picture is with my mates 1.4 8v, after driving his was the reason I brought my 6N2, hes running the same wheels here too lol.

The final show before the insurance run out was a small charity show running in the market square in Hitchen, bedfordshire. Thought id put the Porsche wheels back on for this so put the fronts on the back seats, drove there on the BBS then changed them while I was there, the things I do just for a show lol. Anyway, a couple of pictures from this

The plan was always to take it off the road once the insurance run out so some big changes could take place over winter.

This is how things started, and yes, that is a little post it note

The striping started

I decided that the Autopilot V2 wasnt going to be suitable for what I wanted, V2 was good for everyday, but I want something I can play with. So sold the V2 and for the same amount of cash brought my new set up.

So all fittings, mostly brass quick compression with the push fits for the tanks only. 8 1/2" instant solenoid valves, new 10mm lines, airlift switches, new water traps and a split charger

To aid the airride and sound system, I decided to run an extra battery with a full split charger set up.

This was the initial thoughts but changed slightly as you will see

So once the main structure was complete I started laying out where everything went. Once I was happy I started wiring and plumbing

Started by making a custom switch box out of the old ashtray

Also mounted the pressure gauge in between the seats

And the wiring started......

Once wiring was nearly done it was time to move onto the other parts of the build, started with finishing off the switch box.

Then the tanks and airlines

Before everything went back in, I gave the sub box a refresh. As you may of worked out, I'm using gloss black wrap rather than paint this time, gives a much better and easier finish.

All back in the car.

So wasnt completely happy with the pressure gauge, decided to do what I had done with everything else and customise it.

So, take one £3 pressure gauge and one broken vintage smiths tempurature gauge..............

and.......................

Looks so much better now its mounted with the chrome trim.

One other job I got out the way was cleaning under the wheel arches and refurbing the airlift struts.

Next up was making all the trim pieces to tidy up the entire install

So happy with how its starting to come together. A few random little bits I managed to sqeeze in between the build.

The fake BBS now have new stretched rubber. going to run these wheels until show season then bring the porsche wheels back out.

Pick up a genuine Porsche horn to fit into my Momo

Fitted Audi TT centre console trims.

Thats it, everything is now up to date. Final picture is of her sitting on the BBS wheels with there new stretched rubber.
