Golf VR6 TPS on a GT

Featured Replies

I've been searching for a GT tps for about a month, initially assuming second hand was the only option.

I read on here that a golf vr6 one would fit, all good and well, I bought one... when it arrived it was noticeably massive compared, there was physically no way it could fit, the mounting holes were further apart.

I then learned that there is an updated version of the vr6 TPS, which is the one I bought.

The early TPS, which I think are still in production regardless of the update, is identical to the GT one, so I bought one, and it fits perfectly and works as it should.

Just to clarify,

The part number of the one that doesn't fit is - 037 907 385 Q (A large majority of the ones advertised on ebay etc are this part number)

The part number for the vr6 tps that fits the GT is - 021 907 385

The part number for the GT tps (or the one I took off my gt certainly) is - 030 907 385 A

Hopefully this will help someone...

Are the early ones still available from VW themselves?

Not entirely sure, I managed to find a new one on ebay, maybe worth a call - though don't expect they'll be particularly cheap

Glad you got it sorted in the end

Just to confirm, I tried to get a new TPS from VW. The part is now obselete, so your only hope is looking for a broken VR6. In which case the aprt numbers are very useful, cheers :)

Cheers for the info, the one I bought must've been new old stock.

Could i ask what sort of price you paid for it derskine? I have an intermittent problem which has been confirmed through the fault codes that its my TPS. I think i've located a S/H gt one but obviously this could be just as worn and play up at any time.

I'm having problems finding the right one, the common one like this ends in Q:

£15 for mine as I recall, was a single sale of a single old stock item though.
