Newbie In Need Of Advice

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've got a Black 2010 Polo Moda 1.2, and have had it for about 6 months. Now that i've been driving it for a bit now i want to start adding some modifications.

I was looking for any advice as to what you guys would think to be a few good mods for it. I get that its never going to be that quick with a 1.2 engine in it but maybe something to give it a bit of life, bit of noise, and make it look incredible.

Cheers

Tom

Welcome :-)

I'm in the same boat as you, I have a 2004 Black Polo, and my current list of mods to get are:

-Black VW Badges

-BBS Chrome Alloys

-Pressed German Plates

-Better Exhaust Tip

-Window Tints

-ClubPolo Stickers (Once tints are done)

I was looking into air filters and intakes but i'm not sure if its worth the effort and money. I also find the noise of the engine to be really pathetic in first and second. The only other thing i can see is to put a different exhaust on.

Well I'm not too fussed about the noise of the car, it's just the actual tip of my exhaust is showing signs of rust and corrosion so I'm getting a new one

As far as air filters and all that jazz, I see no point because of the engine size, it's a 1.2, you're not going to win any form of race unless it's who can fill up at the pumps first :P

Whats the insurance on having those done? I haven't looked into it myself but heard that Windows Tints wack it right up :/

Well, with all my mods I'm getting a Clifford Avant Guard 5.5 which is cancelling out everything bar my tints and plates, and my insurance quote from Churchill was £1922....

ite chap you looked into the euro look?? get some coilies slam it low nice set of wheels n maybe lil bit of camber keep it clean n clear looking, plus that way bein a 1.2 it doesnt matter bout speed as bein low you wanna be going slow. tucked exhaust (if can find one as I'm struggling for my 6n2) n would look smart. just a thought

cheers danny, i looked into the euro look, was in Fast Car magazine a couple of months ago and it did look good. i saw on another forum that the ideal profile for some 17 inch alloys is about 40? Does that sounds about right? would it work for a 6r?

Can vary if that not your model then it could be diff... As arch size n the air gape is different normally on the models, but 17 with 40 drop does sound bout right ... I used to run (on my polo 6n) 14 wheels n a drop of bout 70-80 on coilies was a lil rub but nothing to much

Ahh cheers. ill have to look into the gap and see

When i tinted my windows my insurance wasnt bothered.

With the sounds of it you just want it to look better. Which can be done fairly easily, i'd have a look at other polos to get some inspiration then come back with what you want to do if your not sure.

Exhaust and air filter still will improve the engine, a few hp each, but the throttle responsiveness and noise will be better.

You can easily change the alloy wheels, paint the calipers, do something with the VW badge, most go for black, but on a black car I'm not sure.

Also have a look on ebay at the mods they sell.
