Immobiliser issue

Hi guys ,

I'm currently doing a 1.0 to 1.4 16v conversion ..... Everything's in now , including the engine bay loom , ecu , immobiliser , black ring aerial thing and I've changed the chip over in the keys but it won't turn over .... I can hear the starter motor click but nothing is happening :/ help!

I doubt that this is an immobiliser fault, that would not prevent the starter from turning the engine.

If you are absolutely sure that it is the starter motor that you can hear clicking, the problem could be:

1) Bad main positive connection between battery and starter.

2) Bad negative connection between battery and engine/gearbox.

3) Faulty starter motor.

4) Wrong starter motor or motor not fitted correctly.

When you have an immobiliser problem, it generally allows the engine to start, but then it cuts out again within a split second.
