today I'm sad to say the my polo won't start its not even turning over I have had my battery fully charged and I've been told the battery is fine it runs wheb bump started but will not turn over any ideas?

Starter motor, does it make a click when turning the key?

Either starter motor itself or some wiring.

What happens when you turn the key, do the lights dim?

all the lights are on when I turn it over tye battery light disappears hope this isn't the end of my polo!

Is it trying to start (turning over) or not?

nothing at all

If its fine when bump started then it will be the starter motor. Have a quick look under the bonnet at the cables.

As Chris said before the most chances are it might be your starter motor...

Locate where the starter is and try to hit with something not very heave on the back and try to start the car,

repeat this a few times.

Here i uploaded a image where you should hit the starter.

And if the car start after this you should repair your car starter as soon as possible.

just thought I'd update you I've replaced the starter motor and still got nothing any ideas peeps

I have just noticed that the fuses on the battery have gone walkies could this be the problem?

burnt fuses surely are one problem...first change the fuses then try this other stuff
Did you try pushing your car? does it start?
next thing to check would be, negative (ground) wires from engine to chassis and from chassis to battery plus positive wire from battery to starter, it woundn't hurt to clean your battery contacts to....next....
can you hear fuel pump relay or fuel pump hissing when you turn on ignition (fuel pump is under rear seats so it's not a bad idea to raise your seats when you are listening to it... if all this is good and you have a new starter your car should start, report with your results and will try to help you some more:)

ignore the fuel pump for now, it couldn't be a the problem if the engine doesn't even turn over...

i checked My fuses they look fine and i also cleaned the earths on the engine and i can happly say it started and ran but when i came back to the car and tried again Nothing again... :(

Could be the immoboliser, but if you say it bump starts, rules it out really.

Does the starter motor turn over or make a click when you try to start the car, does anything happen?

If it started ok then its probly a loose connection.

I've just had the RAC out and they have said its a dodgy earth but the bolts been rounded off so I have to put a new one on yay or the ingniton switch is fucked and also the starter motor isn't getting power due to a break in the wire so I'm gonna investigate at the weekend any advice on fitting a new ingiton switch

do you have vw elsa? doubt its the ignition, since you got it runing once, i stil belive its just a ground or positive wire faul, maybe a short in a circuit since your fuses got burnt, let me know if you dont have elsa, i can send you a procedure from there
