Hello everyone, i'm Dan. I'm in need of some advice, soon i will be learning to drive and i was wandering what type of Polo/Vw would be best to start with??

This is just my opinion but for your first motor I think you should go with something that's going to be CHEAP and RELIABLE. something that your not going to have to spend loads of money and time fixing. you just wanna be out on the road getting experience and having FUN!

So I'd be looking at a Polo 1043 cc 6N 1994-1999 or 6N2 2000-2002.

I wouldn't worry to much about it having proper VW service history, (Always a bonus though!) but you should be looking for it coming with plenty of bills for work that has been done over the years. always a bonus if there's a bill for a recent timing belt change!!!

Most of my Polos have been off old ladies who have had them for shopping cars and seviced by a local garage and they've always been great buys.

The main thing to look out for on any car is rust. mechanical things are usually fairly cheap to sort but if you have a bad rust issue it can be an expensive fix if you carn't do it yourself!!!

I'd stay away from the old classic Polos until you've been on the road a year or two as your likely to have a bump or two in your first few years and these cars are getting rarer now, so be good if you didn't go righting any off

My advice is to find a car that has been loved and looked after all it's life and dosen't need any work (or very little) doing to it and go out and enjoy it.
