  • The pedal box already went on this a while back, whipped it all out and welded it up so should never go again. (not a fun job working in the footwell!) Funnily enough though, this happened in practic

  • The one i have doesn't have a SIM slot, but supports a 3G Dongle, and also has Wifi for those romantic McDonalds car park meals.

  • Cheers guys, think I'll give it a paint and see. Got my Clubpolo calender today And whose this we've got on the front cover.... http://shop.clubpolo.co.uk/club-polo-2014-calendar-117-p.asp

Rears look really good, I want to do the conversion, but don't really know how difficult it is to do

Cheers man.

It's pretty straight forward to do tbh, doesn't really take too long, there are guides to be found online (possibly on here) + you can always send me a message if you get stuck, be happy to send you up close pics of the wiring etc.

Well...not very much to update at the moment, still looking for a 6n2 dash/wheel etc to do a swap and the weather is too crap to do much else.

The sub/box that was in my boot was taking up a bit of space so thought I'd have a go at sinking it into a false floor, I had a bit of wood and some leather laying around so got cracking.

Don't have many pics of me actually putting it together, but here's the end result:

Test fit:

Then the sub got a lick of paint to match the car :)

All's that's needed now is to paint the exposed metal in the boot, put it all back together and a cover for the sub so the missus doesn't brake it when filling her up with shopping!

Total mod cost - £0

Off for a couple of wine gums now, Happy new year!

Looks good man did u use graffiti paint going to be doing the same to my jetta how's the paint standing up to usage? That sub intsall is clean I see you've done a lot of trimming on the car in leather and that double stitch is good. What do you do for a job?

  • Author

Cheers man, yeah I used Montana gold paint, it's nice and easy to work with and gives a decent finish, holding up to the weather perfectly, still as vibrant as when it was done,no flaking, scratches or chips etc. This type of paint is designed to withstand the weather ;)

I work in IT, I just enjoy tinkering with cars in my spare time and have realised I quite enjoy re trimming stuff lol

Not sure what the sub will sound like yet as it's not been wired up, but as long as I get a half decent thud and have boot space I'm happy.

Yeah man that's why graffiti paint is making its way into the car scene can garuntee it will be the big thing in 2014 lol.

As long as you have secured the wood down then you should get some nice sound of it make sure you sort the cage over it ASAP if that was me it would have car parts through pretty quick keep up the good work mate

Well, finished work and was bored as fook, so thought I'd'd have a few tinnies and have a go at these door cards.

The old 8v rainbow material was a bit out of place:

Stripped off the old school material (with great difficulty!)

Cracked on with the new stuff :) :

now they looks like this:

A quick clean up and maybe some coloured trim along the top/bottom of the leather to tidy the edges up a bit tomorrow before they're re fitted.

They were a bit of a pain in the arse to do compared to other bits but they look oreyt so alls good!

How did you get the old material off.

  • Author

Pulled like fuck!

The grab handle unscrews from behind the door card exposing it all, then the material just pulls off, It's stuck on well though!!

Edited by BoWzER

would a heat gun have helped to ease up the glue?

loking good man!

hi love the colour on the car any idea how long it will last with the weather etc? hows it turned out after washing I use a snow foam lance and pressure washer that's all....

  • Author

Thanks man, I don't really know tbh, I imagine it'll last as long as any paint you were to put on a car.

I always just wash the car at the local jet wash, comes up nice and clean after a good scrub, paint looks as good now as it did when it was first done.

Car looks great mate, how the f*ck did you do the door cards! I've tried and completely failed! could you send me a message with the adhesive and material you used mate!! thanks

Lol no worries man I'll pm you :)

Quick update.

My brother bought me a nice double din stereo running a full version of Android just before xmas, It's pretty sick! only issue is the 6n doesn't have space for a double din as you probably know....

At some point I'm likely to do a 6n2 dash conversion, but in the meantime I'm going to be making a few modifications to the centre console to get this to fit.

I've seen people do away with the top vents to do this but I don't fancy that, a bit of chopping here and there, some fibreglass, plastic filler/welding and I'll hopefully be able to knock up something unique and decent.

so, this is the stereo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8QUpxMANmY

Whipped the centre console out:

Got busy with the dremmel for a bit of test fitting, just to make sure the stereo will actually sit where I'm wanting it to

Looks pretty wank atm obviously, should fit nicely though :)

That's it for now, need to get some bits n bobs ordered when i get paid and start building in the heater controls and window switches etc, then remove the stickers, and a fresh lick of paint.

Updates to come soon! (hopefully)

Hey dude I'm interested in doing my roof lining did you just stick your leather straight on to the exsisting like foamy material or did you peal it off? And how did you do the dash?

  • Author

Yeah i just stuck the leather straight on, no need to try an peel off the existing material on the roof lining.

The dash isn't anywhere near finished yet, lots to do to get the double din and all the controls sitting in it nicely, I'll be

updating the thread as I go along with it.

If you're talking about the stickers then I literally got sheets of sticker bomb vinyl from eBay and stuck it over the plastic trim (whilst it was out of the car). It'll all be peeled off soon though.

Did the material like soak up the glue and cause you to use more or was it all okay

  • Author

Nope, it didn't soak it up, the spray glue I used comes out like a stringy texture and sits on top of the material.

I used just over one can of Trim fix to do my roof and pillars, being generous with the glue.

Quick pic for people wanting to know/see how the paint is holding up to the weather etc:

Fibreglass has been ordered so I can get cracking with the dash along with some other goodies!

oh dear!

easy fix? at least the pedal box didnt go!

  • Author

The pedal box already went on this a while back, whipped it all out and welded it up so should never go again. (not a fun job working in the footwell!)

Funnily enough though, this happened in practically the same place, heart did sink a bit until I had a look.

Nice easy fix luckily, GSF was down the road so nipped down and grabbed a new clutch cable and got it fitted on a side street.

Edited by BoWzER

sweet! my local ECP is about 10 miles away, no idea where GSF is near to me
