  • The pedal box already went on this a while back, whipped it all out and welded it up so should never go again. (not a fun job working in the footwell!) Funnily enough though, this happened in practic

  • The one i have doesn't have a SIM slot, but supports a 3G Dongle, and also has Wifi for those romantic McDonalds car park meals.

  • Cheers guys, think I'll give it a paint and see. Got my Clubpolo calender today And whose this we've got on the front cover.... http://shop.clubpolo.co.uk/club-polo-2014-calendar-117-p.asp

Wow needless to say u have a made a massive improvement. I'm not a fan of diffrenent splitters but then it's your car so up to you if anything just a gti splitter unless already fitted.

What is it with people putting lexus lights on the polos. I bought mine with them on too and as soon as i bought it i took them off haha. Soon will be some 6n2 rear lights!

Loving the car by the way.

Lol, I have no idea mate, I whipped them off and they sold on ebay so some people are still stuck in the 90's and love them.

Deffinately not to my taste lol.

Fair play you done a top job on this.

Knew these would look sick on your car

glad you got them fitted alright mate :D

Well, got some more of the boot done today, wired the sub/amp in, fitted the cover so it doesn't get hammered:

2014-01-29160213_zps94ccfbf9.jpg

Also, It's MOT time soon, the exhaust is blowing in a few places...so i got a new cat and mid section, veeery cheap.

2014-01-29161637_zps135784c0.jpg

And in typical Polo fashion....first bolt we come to remove from the mani.....snaps the stud!

2014-01-29162751_zps2103ebb2.jpg

Waaaaank!!!!

I've got a snapped manifold stud too, fucking things LOL, how much was the flexi & cat pipe?

Thinking I could maybe do with changing mine (oh joy)

  • Author

Yep!

It's the stud on the underneath of the mani where the downpipe joins to it, looking like I may need a new manifold, It's likely the others are just going to snap if i try to remove the bolts :-o

I got mine really cheap, less than 20 quid!

Looks like they go for around 50 quid on ebay.

Don't buy a new manifold. If u grind the wop of the stud of then smack it with a hammer. They should come out or just drill em then nut a bolt.

Yeah man, this is what I'm going to try first.

Called it a day as soon as the first one snapped and the rain started.

Hopefully get it bolted on this weekend.

We almost had a bit of sun this sunday so was time to get going with the exhaust.

The broken stud was much less hassle then we'd thought it was going to be.

Couldn't find the safety goggles but I'd been t'cinema recently and had these bad boys in the car:

2014-02-02122834_zpseed0b4c0.jpg

They did the trick!

Gave the top a quick grind and twisted it out from the bottom.

2014-02-02125101_zps32c62f9e.jpg

Anyway, exhaust is all fitted!!

Did a bit more work on the centre console, lots more sanding was needed, I've decided against painting it the colour of the car, for now, instead i gave it a wrap...in more black leather!

Indoor slim aerial from halfrauds, sits inbetween the windscreen and dash apparently, think i'll try hide it in the headliner.

Because sometimes you just need some Rother FM in your life don't you?

How good they are, I have no clue, we'll see :)

MOT time!

I put the car in and it failed as expected, this gave me a list of what I needed to do as I was to lazy to go round the car and find out for myself.

Failed on a couple of tyres as they were catching the arches.

I heard that if you aint rubbin then you aint dubbin?, the tester had other ideas though!

1900843_10203099635802016_1058466474_o_z

Also failed on a wishbone bush so I've ordered a few new parts which came today :)

Two new wishbones, ball joins, tie rods and track rods, figured I may aswel do the lot while i'm at it!

I'm hoping the next update isn't one saying the bolts snapped trying to get the wishbones off!!

Praying for some nice weather on the weekend to get cracking!

Edited by BoWzER

I'm gonna do my wishbones too at some point, I have huge camber wear on the fronts, think someone put 6n2 bones on there, doesn't look like too difficult a job, lots of big bolts which is always better than fiddly little fuckers! what rubber are you thinking of getting (if you do)

hopefully your luck is a lot better than my latest bout, but I do think the weathers due to be a bit crappy up in't hills :)

  • Author

Yeah man it was a nice and easy job for a change, like you say, nice big hefty bolts, nothing snapped for once!

Safe to say the bush was fooked, the centre section dropped out when I removed the arm:

2014-02-16120654_zpsd6b7a2bb.jpg

I chucked a couple of 195/45/15's on the front wheels.

Just need to give the brakes a bleed and then put her back in for the re test :)

Haha I'm expecting the same on my front right when I change them!

Glad she's all sorted!

What headlight are those ? What are they called I've been looking for new headlights for ages but they all look like halford specials and your look sick

Lol, cheers man.

They're Depo Powerlooks, they're quite hard to get hold of tbh and won't pass and MOT as they're all LHD (as far as i know), If you aim them low though they're fine and don't blind other drivers.

I've got the standards back in for the minute while she goes for the MOT.

Awesome work as always mate! 2 more questions for you

I'm going to make an iPad dash, not sure if I'm gonna keep the 6n dash or put a 6n2 one in, but if I do keep the 6n dash where are you planning to put the window switches?

Also where did you get the powerlooks from as I want some!

Cheers!

Cheers man :D

Not sure you'd have space on a 6n dash to get an ipad there unless you were to get rid of the top vents, this seems to be what most people do.

As for the windows switches, at the minute they're kinda dangling in the section below the ash tray.

The plan is to route them to the door cards at some point like on a 6n2 but keeping the 6n cards.

I got the Powerlooks from a fellow CP member

Ahh that would be good to have them in the doors, I've bought an ipad mini for the occasion, I've eyed it up and i can either just do away with the top blowers and I'm good, or keep the blowers and relocate switches, might just loose the blowers tbh!

Il have to keep a look out for some, thanks

Well one of the track rod end rubbers had split and was an advisory, the inner tie rod was also slightly bent meaning it couldn't be tracked up properly so thought I'd get these sorted before the re test.

Absolute nightmare, grinders, hammers, drill bits galore.

Finally got everything done today before work, here she is sat next to my friends GTI and the Lupo I bought the missus at xmas looking like she needs a wash!

IMG_20140219_100532_zpsuojsggpn.jpg

Re test in the morning!!

Ps. the GTI will be for sale very soon if anyone is interested give me a shout for details.
