First car - 86c

Featured Replies

Hi all!

My names Jordan, and i've just bought my first car... a 'H' reg Polo :D

Had a few questions about it and wondered if you guys could help?

1. Was wondering if i can put a G40 dash with a rev meter in, and get it working (as mine currently hasn't got one)

2. Is there a reliable place that people use to buy spare and/or new parts parts from?

3. Is there anything anyone recommends as a must do first?

Cheers everyone!

Hi,

You only need to change the clocks to genesis/gt or g40 clocks not the whole dash to get the rev limiter

Parts are everywhere on here is best I'd say

A must do? What engine do you have are you after performance gains or aesthetics

H reg could also be a very late mk2. has it got round or square lights?? get a pic up!

Good call missed that

Square lights, its a mk2f or a mk3, don't know which term everyone uses around here, and pics will be up tomorrow morning, when its light enough to take some :p

Sweet, i'm looking for some right now, are they hard to wire?

Its aesthetics more than anything at the moment, because its not going to get used whilst i'm in uni :(

ah okay then. yeah mk2f.

you dont have to get g40 clocks, alot of other models have them too, g40 ones just go up to 160mph instead of 120.

they should be plug and play

however iirc you are best with an earlier set of clocks as they vary slightly, so before 1992 i think it is.

parts are cheap on here, or we get 25% discount at euro car parts. GSF are good also.

must do? check for rust at the backs of the sills, arches, battery tray ect.
