noisy alternator 6n 8v

hey doods since my cars been back on the road I've got a whuuring noise coming form the alternator. is it possible to strip it and grease the bearings or something?

Best to just replace it before it fails don't just give it a squirt of wd40 like most would do or say, it would make it less noisey but would fail sooner.

I've had alternators and starters repaired by a local company that refurbs them but this would cost £40 plus.

Make sure you check belt to or replace it.

Alternator bearings are 'sealed for life' ( the life of the bearing that is, not your life!) so there is no way that you can lubricate them, but you can replace them.

If the car has been standing for months, it is also possible that the noise is from the slip rings and brushes, again these are replaceable.

As i said I use a local company called BURGHFIELD STARTER AND ALTERNATOR CENTRE, Used them for 20yrs plus since I've been a mechanic and they've fixed many things for me over the years.
