Stripped the 5th and or synchromesh on my 5 speed, does anyone have good info on where to get new parts fairly cheap?

What was £170 on eBay? The fifth gear synchro ring is about £30 new from vw, although I have four good used spares up for grabs if interested. If you have mashed the drive teeth on fifth gear (usually caused by bad adjustment of the engagement sleeve) then one of the fifth gears and the engagement sleeve will need swapping too. Take the black end plate off the box and take a look first though.
