1957 Patina Airride Oval

Featured Replies

Hey Guys..

Unfortunately the time has come (MUCH earlier than I ever wanted) to put my Pride And Joy up For Sale.. This really is a very difficult decision but due to it not being used as much as I would like it to be and personally just going in a different direction now, I had to make this hard decision! Not something I ever wanted to do in fairness!

For the year that I have owned it, it really has been totally faultless, other than the standard tweaking here and there, it has needed and asked for nothing from me! It was being run as a daily throughout the beautiful summer we've had and attracted soo much attention at the shows I went to! (Understandable really! Its awesome!)

I purchased it from an awesome dude from Holland who was soo helpful with everything and knew a hell of a lot about it! Basically rebuilt the Oval from the ground up! We met each other in France, Calais, part exchanged our Beetles at the time with each other, signed all the paperwork, loaded our New Beetles up and went on our way!

This is some of the info pulled from the ad that got my attention when I got it! There are hundreds and hundreds of Body-off resto pictures that you will need to see to understand just how much work, time and effort went into building this awesome Oval! And the quality of the work is second to none in my opinion!

Body off restored, lot of pictures available. Complete pan and bottom of body is sandblasted and treated with anti-rust components (RX5/RX10). Just very few small rust repairs, fixed nicely with correct sheet metal (Wolfparts). Small adjustments for air-ride components, keeping the original looks.

Brake shoes/cylinders/hoses, all wheel bearings, all cables, all rubbers, bolts, everything is new and correct for 1957. Gearbox has been opened and checked, everything looked fine and shifts great. All original bolts and small metal parts are sandblasted and zinc coated, Gas tank is sealed.

Complete 12V conversion for compressor. Third brake light, Bosch fog light (not wired in), semaphores, interior light, everything works as it should.

4" Volksprojects air-ride front beam with air shocks, rear has custom Volksprojects shocks mounted on special bar over gearbox, 1" tranny raise, only in rear to clear engine from ground. No welding on chassis for the installation, installation is bolt on and can be removed easily. (Why you would want to I'm not sure!!) Compressor behind spare wheel, 20L air tank behind in front of the car. Central steering system.
Air-ride has remote control.

Original interior, headlining, floormats, lights etc. Engine is a 1200 from the 60s, but always runs good and fast. Car has driven
almost 7000km since restoration (November 2010 - February 2012) without any problems.

This is the link to all the pictures of the resto, Please take your time to have a good look through them all as its amazing to see how much work went into it and the quality!
