  • Was just thinking the other day - its about time the oil was changed in this. On arrival at my unit this afternoon, I caught sight of an empty ramp next door! An opportunity like this cannot be wasted

  • Still getting occasional use out of this from time to time It really is a shame I don't get to use it more.  I've been thinking of selling it, but I know I'd regret it afterwards.

  • I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread. Just re-read the whole thread, fantastic work, clearly you take pride over your cars.

Do you have one of these?

I think I do - I'll have a look next time I can, probably be Saturday.

I intended to fit the new back box today but went for a drive instead. Did get the new scuttle cover plonked on though. Finger will be pulled out soon!

After the charger went back twice to OCD with an oil leak from the seal behind the pulley (the second time took 5 weeks!) an investigation was in order. Not wanting to take the whole car there as he wanted, the charger was stripped at home. First thing noticed was the 3 chunks broken off the timing belt cog!

2015-02-19175139_zpsb727763a.jpg

The reason for the leak was blindingly obvious - check out the massive amount of pitting on the sealing surface of the oil slinger.

If he'd actually looked at it on any of the 3 occasions when he had it in bits he could have told me I needed a new one and saved us both unnecessary ball ache. I know plenty of people have been satisfied by his service in the past, but in my case it has left me feeling a little disappointed. Anyways, a new oil slinger and seal went in and its finally leak free!

Borrowed charger can now go back to its owner and spare charger can go into storage. :)

Was at my unit today and was offered some time on my mate's ramp so I could fit my back box. The thought of doing it on my back has been putting me off the job for months, so I went and fetched the car!

I'm digging the OE satin black finish - looks just like the cars in the brochures!

Had a good look around for oil leaks while it was in the air - pleased to report that its all still good and dry under there!

Finally put it away after a good drive around in pleasant weather. (About time it got better!)

A perfect day today - fine weather, and nothing to do but driving my cars.

Finally finished running in the charger at the weekend, was good to be able to drive it like its supposed to be driven. Seen here just before putting it away after a spirited drive on Easter Monday.

Didn't have time to go to Springfest last week - too much on. Kinda made up for it today though, all stuff to do was sidelined so I could spend some time in this.

The colour comes alive in the sun, but its really difficult to photograph. So I gave up.

Finally got my blank key cut this week -

A small, but satisfying job, which ends the paranoia of losing a single key and needing to change the locks!

Finally got round to trying out the trim dye a friend recommended to me. Its very time consuming but looks pretty good.

Did a 270 mile round trip through the middle of Wales at the weekend. Many miles of single track stuff in convoy with Autoshite forum peeps in fantastic weather.

Cheers! - didn't you have one in the past? If so, you must miss it, I'd hate to have to part with mine.

Cheeky shot with my new project - Polos are not getting much use at the moment!

Just gave this a good clean for Tatton Park in the morning - bit of a rush job to get it done before dark, hopefully it won't look too half arsed!

Even after waxing, these wheels are incredibly time consuming to clean properly.

I've been making the most of the salt free roads recently - long may it continue!

My phone camera isn't the best, but here's a mildly festive shot that looked a lot better by eye. Really should buy a proper camera one day!

See how bloated the Corsa looks compared to the Polo - a Corsa used to be a small car a few years ago. :)

I think one of the front wheel bearings is starting to grumble - but that can wait for now. Gave it a clean and took some pictures instead!

No room in the unit to work on this until I finish my current restoration.

Love the thread and your cars - you have them just how they should be.
