M62 speed camera..

Featured Replies

I'm pretty sure I was flashed on the m62 going out towards Bradford/Manchester on Saturday.

My problem is, there was no variable speed limit in place & I was on cruise control at 70 as I have driven on there 4/5 times a week for 2 years.

There were cars around me at the time but none over taking & it was the camera on the lane I was in that flashed twice (middle lane).

When the camera flashed me I slowed down to around 55..

I'm really pee'd off with it, I know I have to just wait 14 days out, but surely it wouldn't just flash for no reason, they're fairly new cameras, I believe installed last year.. It's really getting to me to where Its all I'm thinking about! I've read the FAQ on speed cameras & I'm unsure which type of camera is on the m62.

Another thing is, if I don't get a letter, I'll be more pissed & likely to complain about being flashed for no reason & the worry/stress it's caused me! (6points in 2 years & revoke, I have a clean license).

If there was no variable speed limit and you were doing 70 you should be okay.

Could it have changed from the moment you went under the gantry with the variable speed limit signs to when you got to the speed camera?

The variable speed limit signs are attached to the cameras. Around 2 or 3ft in front of the whole setup, it could have come on the second I was under it but surely they'd have a margin of a few minutes before they'd start fining drivers give us a chance to notice it etc.

Go for the speed awareness course...it's a fun day out with free tea and biccies...and no points on your licence..

John

They can flash randomly. I was on the 42 last week and saw the camera the other way flash, even though the traffic was probably doing 40 at most.

I wouldn't worry, especially if it just flashed once (they need two pictures to prosecute).

Could also be a fault to be honest.

Other day I went to work and about 10 people had been flashed by the same camera and were positive they weren't speeding, just turns out the camera was set to the wrong speed limit, useless eh!
