Another one bites the dust. Overtook a scrappers transit with a MK2 bready on it yesterday morning. Shame as the shell looked OK.

In my town I know of 2 Mk2f Polos...and I own them both.

Within a 40 mile radius of me there are some other Polos ranging from Mk1 to Mk2f but they are very few and far between. Even a 6n is getting a rare sight up here.

Before the scrappage scheme there were certainly alot more Mk2f Polos about. But now they are so rare, the money folk demand for them up here is stupid!

Not seen one in my local scrappy for 3 years. Aparently they get squashed pretty quickly as theres no demand for parts!

nearly 2 years of ownership of a mk2 bready and I've only seen 3 others on the road clocked a good 8k in miles in that time, quite shocking as i find when you own a certain model of car you see them more but not in this case :( and funny I've found most insurance companies refuse to insure a 1986 bready as a classic?! strange as the descriptors for a classic usually only require that the car has been out of production for 20 years sometimes as low as 3 years depending on if it was a limited edition or run of model? seein as the mk2 hasnt been made for 24 years now you'd think it automatically would be deemed a classic?

quick check on howmanyleft reveals there is 1700 approx of my model left (CL), but that doesnt specify the year so that could well be mk1/2/2f/and 3's even 4's if they did a CL? id say that its become a classic by default would it not?

ok just done some more scouring on howmanyleft you can seacrh by year of 1st registration and apparently there is only 5 CL's on the road that was 1st registered in 1986! and 4 sorn! how the duece is that not a classic? lol 1991 seems the most popular year of CL to be left at 454 on the road and 140 sorn!

My 1985 Bready CL was accepted onto a 'Classic Car Policy' without any trouble by Adrian Flux . Agreed value+Comprehensive(£83) and added business use(+£36) restricted mileage though.

'How many left' is probably inaccurate as it does not show mine or the others on this site...
