so can I get a spring that will give me a maximum of 20mm drop or do i have to buy adjustables?

Most adjustables start at - 20 mm itleast or similar

I've heard people cutting a standard coil off to do this on each spring but I wouldn't reccomend it at all

lol nope I'm not cutting the springs....

so something like spax start at -20mm?I dont want to sit it on the deck but just take a bit of the yaw out of it.

20mm springs will make little to no difference you will need a decent set of coil overs or shock and spring set up. If you want handling upgrades 20mm is very little on these polo. Find a company that does custom springs and shocks and the will be able to make some stiffer dampers and macth the springs to these, Harris racing does a lot of suspension work so probably your best but in terms on knowledge.

yep,i figured that buying some nice coil adjustables would be the best bet,i dont want it too low.hmmmmm

shocks to buy then.

i think I've worked out i can fit a 195/45/15 so with them and a decent set of spax or summat it will be ok...

Yeah a 195/45 tyre will be fine but believe me you will need to go a fair bit Lower than 20mm get some half decent coilovers then play around with different ride heights until u find something your happy with. But don't forget shocks are halve the suspension check condition of bushes maybe up grade them

where i live the ride height is needed to be quite high,i will play around with ride height but will probably space the new shocks out a bit if there too low.....

I do recommend half a coil chopped off with a thin disk on an angle grinder. Remove the spring to do it. Why do I recommend this? Because the original springs are too long. The original dampers are still perfectly well matched with half a coil removed. Still within preload, it won't fail an MoT, they won't fall out, you'll be about 20mm down with no adverse effects whatsoever. Half a coil, that is half a loop, not half of an entire a coil-spring lol

But don't listen to me, I don't work with Ford US chassis developments..

yeah fair comment.i do find this forum rather moderated but hey ho..

i would prefer to go bilstein coils and get my special freind to make me a way of makeing them just a 20mm drop,us cornish machine men like to be busy on lunch break lol.i dont see any reason why i cant get busy...

Eibach springs on some fresh standard replacement bilsteins or some bilstein b4's will see next to no drop but HUGE improvements to handling!

Yeah, just need to be weary with some after market dampers which could be designed for a larger drop, as only running a lower drop you could find you're continually topping out the dampers due to not having enough rebound travel for your ride height, even in general driving not just "jumps" in the road etc.
