Project Red! New Updates! 6n2 lights, roof rack and teardrop alloys (Picture Heavy)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!!! Its been one year since I last owned a polo but I'm back!!!

Lots and lots of plans... It turned up in a sorry state, the interior is all cut open and is really really bad but the outside is perfect! Its a 1.0 litre and is going low! Already has its winter wheels on but has major plans for summer already.

The to do list:-

  • GET IT LOWER! (Coilovers)
  • Replace rear lights
  • Fabric spray carbet black
  • New Radio
  • Stickers of course
  • Get some deep dish steelies
  • 16v bumpers
  • Respray badges and roof black
  • New interior

These are just some of the things I find important, but here is one photo and I will keep you posted on everything I do! (More photos of the newbie when I get home and its actually day light haha)

Well well well.... What a busy couple of days its been with the polo. Done so much to it and i have no money too haha, first thing first was clean the outside (Bath time) It looks so clean now but still needs some touch ups here and there. Then after this it was time for some serious interior sort out such as get the interior out and fabric spray the carpet black, only half way doing the carpet so no photos yet. Was not impressed when i fitted my new radio and i saw wires glowing behind the dash board :( The problem was that the wires were touching but now fitted new wires and just need to fit the radio back in. Also i dropped the coolant and put some new stuff in from where i work. Anyway enough of my going on, here is some serious photos.

First night of ownership.

Not really had the take off i wanted but will still be trying :) Done lots to the little thing such as cleaned the interior and sprayed the carpets black and the trims black too. Looks a lot nicer and should be collecting a new interior soon. I have also bought some small stickers now which some have arrived and some are still turning up. The car is in the garage on axle stands with no wheels and no suspension but coilovers will be on the way and the steelies will be sprayed an off white colour (near enough cream). Got so much planned, will keep you updated and will get some more photos soon.

Thank you.

  • Author

Gets even better everyone. I have coilovers on route, 6n2 rear lights and some wee stickers too. It's time to get excited. :-p

Thanks everyone.

Well what a great couple of days I've had off... Got the car to the stage i want it for when the coilovers arrive, such as sprayed two wheels to see what they will look like once lowered. Anyway here is some pictures with descriptions

We all hate sticker bombing but i will only be using the smallest amount ever!!!!

IMG_20140106_113452_zpse136925c.jpg

I had to buy this for when at shows and i can take the reg plate off ;)

IMG_20140106_145524_zpsc7122418.jpg

Here is what i did with the sticker sheets.

IMG_20140106_152134_zps70141134.jpg

IMG_20140106_211917_zps5fc4b7d4.jpg

New sticker for when the coilovers turn up.

IMG_20140107_160118_zps90c32f12.jpg

Now i had an attempt at wrapping this but it didn't work and in the end sprayed it white with a wave of the wrap at the bottom.

IMG_20140109_220809_zps1801ecb1.jpg

Now i put something up on facebook for a vote on what i should do on the winter wheels.

Vote number 1

IMG_20140109_210927_zpsdcc59e90.jpg

Vote number 2

IMG_20140109_205526_zps5d1dc4ed.jpg

(vote number 1 won) Even after this vote i ran out of white spray paint so i have fully sprayed two steelies red.

Hope you all enjoy this update. Lots more to come, thank you for looking...

Decent progress, I would have gone for the white steelies though!

What rear lights you got planned?

And if you haven't already, please paint that tow cover red on your front bumper

  • Author

Haha, yeah mate got some 6n2 rear lights on route as they look the best ;)

Also matey the front tow cover is off and will be going red when i buy the 16v bumpers ;) But even then i'm thinking of staying with the standard bumper as i actually prefer it now.

Also i'm thinking of spraying the lip white on the wheels?

Thanks for your interest and comments :)

Really like this, white steelies look good. Did you sand em down before painting?

  • Author

At first no as I was testing to see what I thought but now all sanded down and sprayed correctly :D thank you for your comment it makes the all the work worth it :D

Thank you.

I was contemplating on whether I should paint my steelies red or white, the suspense is killing me, show us a piccy please

  • Author

Haha, there not on the car yet buddy as currently waiting on coilovers :-p

But as soon as i do then i will take pictures :)

Blast!! I'm not lowering mine anytime soon, could you pm me a pic before collies are fitted? Just want to see the arch gap with coloured steelies.

  • Author

Matey I don't own any suspension haha :-p the car sits on axle stands till the coilovers are here.

The only thing I have left is some springs but I have no struts :( but there for sale as coilovers should be here anytime now and I'm so excited. Chassis notch very soon I hope if plans go right.

Cheers everyone.

IMG_20140127_211814_zpslw630z1g.jpg

Still loads to come yet, will not post everything as most of it is as small as a light bulb haha, or even the little dash blanks. Anyway enjoy but still lots to come!!!! This Thursday the rocker cover is going up the powder coaters too.

Thanks for looking, take it easy.

Edited by GreatRaz12

looking forward to the rocker cover colouring,

  • Author

Yeah dude, will be sending it off tomorrow. We are thinking red to be honest but then again don't want to much red on a red car haha.

I'm thinking colour coded door handles tho (Outside)

Thanks.
