Alright all, just picked up a mk1 polo believe someone here had it at some point , reg etc 528w

Needs a bit of work but all good, thought I'd try this forum to get some ideas and much needed info, I have had and still own some vws already but specific info is always helpful :) had a flick threw already and the forum looks good !

My old one, think two other people have had it since.

I bought it on ebay, drove it back from Dartford, but never really got anything done on it. Couple of years ago I sold it to a lad from Morley, who did it up with his dad and changed the colour, then he sold it another lad, who advertised it on here.

Cool little car, wish I'd got my finger out and got it done, but good to see it's still in good hands.

Has it still got the 895cc engine in? That ran lovely and pulled suprisingly well.

yeah thats the one, i got it off a lad called kai off ebay, but he didn't do anything to it really,I've found a bit of a build thread through a guy on mk1polo.com, just want to find out what the new colour it is mainly.the car itself is pretty tidy and solid, yeah its still got the little engine in it although not running very well at min,going to change the carb over tomorrow and have a play. as for plans just gettin it water tight and back on the road, ill post a pic up now I've changed the front about a bit.going on the pic you posted its changed a fair bit!!

It finally came through from Germany the other day, misses hates it but I love it, just got that retro feel to it, no crazy curvy design just a back to basic vibe :) how do u find your polo?

Think I saw this on eBay. Something about being resprayed but the quality is pants so need to be done again? Leather seats too?

yeah thats the one , to be fair paint aint actually that bad just needs a good machine polish, dont get me wrong its not show standard though. yeah leather seats, I've pulled them a bit tighter to tidy them up, also has leather roofliner too. main thing for me was that for 32 year old car it aint rusted through!

Yeah sounded like a decent car, in fact I said to my father about it. I was pretty tempted, but I had just bought a mk1 golf so got my hands full!

Hi, I've got a mk1 too dropped lucky on it at the end of summer, keeping mine standard though bar a 5 speed gear box! Look forward to seeing it at a few shows!

I can't wait for it to stop raining! It's been going on for that long now I can't remember what sunshine is! Never been to vw action, done the little Stanford hall one, vw festival every year , and been to vanfest a couple of times ( that's mahooooosive)

I went to loads last year I was in my golf at vw fest was just closing the deal on my polo. Bug jam is the best!

At the min only self tapped the front section on, got to get some of those black no. Plate covers to go over the top of them, the sides will be pop riveted soon though

Ye it's massive, dance tent and stage Phats and small and toploader were some of the has beens on huge fair and the drag strip too right laugh. Ye went all over had a great year. I've had a few mk1 golfs over the last 4 years and just dropped lucky on the polo someone was getting rid was supposed to buy a winter car but it was too good to pass up!

Sounds pretty good, may have to have a look at that. I wanted something different to a golf, mainly coz one of my mates has a caddy and the another has a conv mk1 that's been done real nice, this is just going to be my day t day car. Once I've finished doing the house I can start my real project vw fastback
