Wife's '02 Golf has them, the novelty wears off. I preferred the warmth of the early '90s sporting Ford's, my bubble shape XR3i had red floodlighting that I never tired of and even the late 80s ones had red glowing glass needles.

Anything is better than MK2 Polo clocks though. Can't believe the MK1 Golf Cabriolet survived the entire 80s as well with this ugly semi-squared design, along with every other Volkswagen where neither the needles or numbers lit up. Just a dim limp-green floodlighting.

There's some really trick stuff available on German eBay to convert to something special, but of course it's all in kilometres..

I liked the red and blue in my golf,

Stuck with boring green in Polo and boring orange in BMW, boo!

My mate put red floodlighting in his mk5 fezzy zetec s and I couldn't see a damn thing! I don't think there's any other better colour than green for old school floodlighting. I love orange backlighting in my dad Audi 90 Quattro though.

i kinda like the shitty green glow : (

Converted my clocks to white led's so I can see them better
