wont get up to temp?

Featured Replies

changed the oil on my 6n 1.0 and put a cone filter on it and now the temp wont move unless in stationary traffic.is this because of the cone filter?i did attach it to the flexi hose and removed the filter from the box.

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. Just a coincidence it has happened when you put the filter on.

nice, cheers!i shall be picking a new one up tomorrow for the princely sum of £3.96 from Euros.

I would strongly recommend a genuine VW thermostat rather than a 'will fit' part - That 'stat works harder than you may realise.

Regards.

it's ok it will be genuine,i know someone who works there so i get staff discount.

Mines' doing this, and I'm in the process of replacing my sensors with genuine ones. Anyone got a part number for the thermostat on a mk2f so I can find one?

I'd love a genuine thermo aha.

it wasn't a genuine one,but it wasn't Chinese either so not all bad.took me ten mins to fix,i cant imagine a genuine thermostat being more than a tenner though, through my mate of course.

Worth mentioning, 6n thermostat housings are also prone to breaking, however it often makes it stick shut.. There's a post in the FAQ about it

Genuine ones are 11.47 at my local volkswagen.
