Being honest, I put this topic in as a way of finding my old topic!

But does anyone have any build thread links to one being done?

Things changed for me a few years ago, hence still buzzing about in the bora. But now in a position to have a hot (ish!?) hatch again

Given the xenon gti headlights, would it really be easier to buy a 6n and maybe add a 1.6? Is there a 1.6 from somewhere else in the vw range without the variable valve stuff that I could bike carb or throttle body?

People fit 6n2 fronts to 6n's so it should work the other way.

Need a few bits though,

Bonnet

Wings

Bumper

Lights

Slam panel

Etc.

You can fit the 1.6 to a 6n, running VVT would be possible with after market management on throttle bodies, or even retro fitting the GTI management into a 6n.

You can also fit a 1.4 16v head to the 1.6 bottom end and run a distributor with carbs
