It really depends on the insurance company truth be told, There are no defining prices but mine is free for all mods bar performance modding.

I just have to phone up and pay a £20 admin fee

If your doing an initial quote for example:

I'm 18 and just insured my 1.4 8v polo, without mods declared it would have been £1350

I have declared 50mm lowered and alloy wheels and that made it £1770

So in my case for example that was the difference

Adrian flux quoted me £3000 plus!

Lowering my old one cost me 24 quid at 21 in my first year of driving

The only thing you can really do is ring and find out.

I'm 20 and its 2 grand a year all mods regardless included no questions asked

imagine if the car was standard haha!

I'm with RAC and i phoned them to ask and for me to lower the car they said it would go up to £4000

and adrian flux quoted me £3000.

should i just risk it..?

No - because if you have an accident someone, somewhere will get a picture of it and if your insurer have any opportunity of getting out of paying they will.
