If I replaced my remote central locking ecu with this one, would it work? And if it does, how would I go about programming another key for it, as I share my car?

As long as the remote control is the correct type for the CCm then it should work I guess, I was told that there are different types of keys and CCM's. I used one from another seller that seems to have a few on Ebay for £80. They really are unplug and plug your new one in. Programming the remotes is dead easy too. The only hardship was getting new chips programmed up but that was easy enough really when I got a mobile locksmith to do it.

Is it literally just a case of unplug your old one and plug the new one in?

There's a long thread on here about this very same subject. Yes it's just unplug old unit and then plug new unit in. Then program the remote buttons job done. Took me ages and ages to work out how to unclip the old unit but once unclipped it fell down into the footwell where it was easy to replace. The chap on Ebay that I bought from guarantees a matched flip key and ccm. Beware of some of the cheap keys on Ebay, the part number of the case of the ley may not match that of the electronics inside. It's been well worth doing for me and made the car so much more useable for me.

Basically to fit the kit I had to do the following.

Look up from drivers footwell and see the heater duct, mine was held by one torq head self tapper. Removed this duct and looked up above the clutch pedal and found a blue switch, disconnected the switch and removed it too. Now you can access the locking module which is mounted on a metal bracket, do not confuse this unit with the comfort module on the right hand side with loads of wires going into it. Feel behind the bracket and you'll feel the tabs from the plastic bracket that holds the locking module. There is a tab in the centre, you may be able to push this centre tab from the back of the metal bracket but I ended up prizing with a screwdriver between the metal bracket and plastic bracket which released the tab and allowed the module and it's bracket to slide up towards the steering wheel. Once the module was released I let it dangle in the footwell whilst I disconnected the battery. Then it was a case of unplug and plug the new unit in. Replace the unit into the plastic bracket and slide back into place and refit the pedal switch and heater duct. Then followed the instructions to program the flip key, used an existing key to turn ignition on but not start the engine. Then lock the car and press the lock and unlock buttons several times. I locked the car with window open.

Mine gave the function to auto lock at 10mph. Only annoying things are that you need to press unlock twice to let people into other doors but also if you don't turn ignition on the car locks it's self. I've been told these can all be adjusted with the vcds and cable.
