Been looking for a 6n2 tdi for a while or a 6n estate but moneys been tight, then my mam bought a 6n 1.3cl and told me to fix it and its her spare car.

This is how it looked the Day I got it, it was owned by an old lady from new has just under 64k on the clock her grandaughter had it for a bit then sold it to an employee of my mam who drove it through a huge puddle causing it to die and the interior getting soaked, once it had sat for 24hrs it started again but the oil cap and breather look like this

It then went to another employee then my mam got it since the sunroof was covered in water from the carpet been soaked iv pulled the interior leaving only the dash and A pillars, its drying nicley but its filthy.

The body had quite a few marks, dints and rust so after doing this next job was sort the rust.

The B and C pillar trims are still in here but I pulled them out about a week ago and pulled the sound deadening yesterday.

And this is how it currently sits.

Its only gettin fixed as my mams paying and its not mine and the passat dosnt look how i want but coilovers are a huge no go and I cant afford air ride.

Anyway this could be a very slow thread thats updated once a day or once every 2 months, thanks for looking and all comments are welcome.

cant wait to see this end :) and the mayo round the cap will probs be down to water getting in and causing condensation either that or the head gasket is blown

I'm doing the gasket any way as an exhaust manifold stud has snapped and its been leaking from the manifold so I need to get that out and at £35 delivered for a full head kit its daft not too, I was thinking about compression testing it but no point if I'm doing the gaskets any way.

Its getting a good service when I do the gaskets and new belts its by no means tidy and probs never will be, theres no mods planned as its not mine(yet) so its not going to be any thing special just extending its life if I do purchase it tho new engine, coilovers and decent alloys shall be bought but that will make it a more long term project, just need it to run again as the batterys died and the brakes are starting to seize.

Borrowed a head bolt tool off a neighbour so the head should be off one day this week to do the gasket, now i can get the front end in the gatage no excuse not to if its raining.

I'd suggest getting the head stripped down and skimmed if you're doing the gasket.

Polo heads seem to be rather soft and I've tried a couple times to change just the gasket and ended up doing all the work again as the head needed a skim.

Iv already found a company to skim the head I also need an exhaust stud removed, iv had a go today but I can't get the bottom cambelt cover off I'm guessing it's held on by the bottom pully and I ran out of time so just put it back together, but I would always get the head skimmed if it's coming off.

I had same problem with mayo around oil cap and coming from the breather hose!

Turned out most of the problem came from the oil separator failing and the hose collapsing causing water and oil to mix and enter through the air intake!

Cost £100 for the part from VW and about an hour at the garage.

Runs smoother now than it ever has!

Apparently its quite a common problem with these cars and vw keep the part in stock.

In other news its going to be a bit longer before it goes to mot as the rust in the floor is worse than i thought, my sister in laws other half has had a look at it to tell me what it needs to pass (he's an mot tester) And other than what i already knew the floor needs sorting so this could be a pd tdi project while i have use of a welder funds dependant.

mot on tuesday i know its going to fail but i want to know what else needs sorting on top of the rust and exhaust, this was going to be an off the road project but now i need it on the road asap.

Mot done just need to pick it up to find out what its failed on, in other news I have a momo team 280 wheel and boss on its way and so it begins, I think I might leave the primer its been like that long enough for me to like it tbh and the dinted passanger door and wing will be left if I do, but this is by no means a rat car ratted for the sake of it its just honest.
