Another insurance topic..

Alright guys,

I could be barking up the wrong tree here but Car insurance prices are confusing the sh*t out of me!

First year when I was 19 I paid £1900 on a 1.4 8v polo..

I then moved to a 1.4 16v polo and paid £1100.

Now i'm looking to go back on the road with 1 years NCD 2 Years Driving.. Never been in any accidents or had any points and I'm 22 in May.

Been looking at another valver and insurance is minimum £1800 so it's coming out shy of £200 a month!!

WTH?!

That 1 Years NCD I worked for is as much use right now as a chocolate fire guard can someone shed some light onto things?

My Postcode is WN4 area which isn't seen as rough and high either I don't think?!

Dan

What companies are you trying? I've always gone with specialist insurers and never really paid over the odds (although I am a bit older than you).

Insurance makes no sense at all, my insurance is up and down every year, to give u an idea of just how little sense it makes is one of my mates was running a 42 plate turbo diesel mondeo as his everyday and was paying just over 850 a year fully comp, he 24 , he hast just got an 08 2.0 td audi a6 and his insurance is now 450? I can't see how a mondeo worth not even a quarter of the price can be more to insure especially with newer cars being built to crumple? No sense at all!

I'm just playing around with comparison sites, I was with admiral but their renewals are mental now just don't know what to do! Would love a VR but I think I'll be dreaming.

Check out some of the companies that arent on comparison sites - Admiral, Direct line, Aviva.

I recently sorted my insurance out with admiral I'm 19 no NCB and been driving a year got my insurance down to £575.62 for TPFT.

Every company will always put the price up on a renewal so then theyve got more room to barter n haggle as 9 times out of 10 you call em up say youve got a cheaper quote elsewhere n theyl drop there prices.

Always worth checking out TPFT and FULL COMP as some companies rather insure you fully comp so give you a cheaper premium.

Right guys fancy a laugh?

Rang brentacre because I've heard nothing but good stories about modified policies and my girlfriend is with them.

So they said they can't insure a car that's not modified so i said to apply coilovers to all the reg's a I give you.

I gave them the following cars and got the following prices :

mk2 golf 1.6 driver - £1859

1.8 turbo mk4 golf gti - £2489

1.0 MK2F Polo Coupe - £2189

Mk3 Golf GTI 8v - £2900

Mk3 Golf VR6 - £3469

Basically do they even want anyone on the road these days?!

OK rang Greenlight through recommendation :

They wouldn't quote anything other than the 1.8 turbo golf and the VR as they only do performance policies.

VR they couldn't quote me

MK4 they want £3500..

Wow.

I'd say that given by those quotes above, your issue is the area you live in.

Are you sure it is not high risk?

Also 1 years NCB does little or nothing to insurance premiums, but over £2k for a 1.0 mk2f is stupid.

Have you tried Sky insurance? They have always given me a good price on my daily driver.

I haven't had quotes as high as those in years, I think I'm being ripped off if I get a quote over £600 now!

I found a young drivers insure off moneysupermarket, it doesn't have any restriction or telematics!

Prices where a lot better more than half of the above prices!
