Hi all, have just joined as my son is tonight going to buy a VW Polo as his first car. Its a W reg (Mk5? i think its called). It has issues with the electric windows and i have already found some great tips/instructions for fixing these.

It hasn't been run in a while but started up fine and drove quite well for an older car. There was an advisory about new discs on the last mot so those will be done by a garage for us.

Looks like i will be buying a haynes manual and teaching myself some basic polo mechanics along with him in the near future though.

Sounds like you have a MK5, you'll probably see it referred to as a 6n2 also.

The discs are a pretty straight forward swap on these, can't go wrong with a few tools and a Haynes
