I have a couple of issues.. firstly my lights on the fans aren't coming on, they have been working but only recently noticed they haven't been on. I remember them flickering once, a loose connection maybe? how would I check?

Secondly my rear wiper washer has never worked since I got the car. There is a bit of broken plastic around the jet, don't know if it has come into contact with something. It will use fluid from the reservoir so I don't know where it goes... the other thing, when I press it to wash it will stay on wiping until I turn the ignition off. This is the only way to get my rear wiper to wipe even with my fronts on. There is a clicking noise from the right side of my steering wheel when it is wiping sounds like its coming from the fan area.

Long winded explanation I know.. If you need anything else let me know.

It sounds to me as if you have two separate faults here.

If the fluid level goes down when you operate the REAR washer, but does not emerge from the jet, there is obviously a leak. This being the case, there may well be some tell-tale damp patch SOMEWHERE - As you mentioned the broken plastic near to the jet, it may pay to start by checking behind the jet.

The other problem sounds to be due to a faulty rear wiper relay, I would think that this is what you can hear clicking. There is a built in timing device in the relay, when it 'times out, the wiper should park.

The relays are just above the fuses, inside the drivers side 'glove box' (for the want of a better name) I think that the rear wipe relay is the is in the second slot from the left on the top row.

Thanks for detailed reply! How would I go about checking for leaks? Where does the pipe run from the reservoir? As for the other problem, is it case of buying a new wiper relay or is the a way of fixing this without buying new parts?.. Thanks again.

On my 6N the rear wash was'nt working, I traced the leak to a production break in the pipe by the rear passengers upper seatbelt mounting point, the fluid was running down the trim and filling the spare wheel well

You are probably better of getting a replacement relay, but you could have a go at opening it up and maybe cleaning the contacts - there's not much else that you can do with it.

NOTE: Make sure that you take out the correct relay,especially if you intend to open it up. - As I said above, I THINK that the relay is in the second slot from the left on the top row this is NOT necessarily the second RELAY from the left - it depends upon your spec. Suggest that you pull that relay and check that there is no longer a 'clicking' sound. - I would hate you to damage the wrong relay!!!

Thanks. Does anyone have a diagrammed picture of what relay I need to take out? This would help lots. Also fan lights aren't working again, any idea what would make these intermittent?

Still looking for details on what relay is for the rear wiper.. I don't want to break something I don't need to.

Also how would I trace the wiper fluid pipe? Where does it run in the car?

The washer pipe runs along the passenger side sill then up by the rear seat upper seatbelt mouting point, this is where the production break on mine had pulled apart

Thanks for that. I pressed my washers yesterday as this is the only way to get the rear wiper working and the fluid came out of the front jets.. so now I'm thinking it's blocked rather than a leak. how do I get to the back of my washer - i.e. take it apart to try clearing it..

Purchased a new relay today. It should arrive in the next few days, hopefully that will fix something.

The relay didn't fix the problem but it could have been another faulty relay.. Can these be bought new?
