Hub nut size?

Featured Replies

Hi Looking to change a dodgy leaking cv boot on me polo, its a 2006 9n3. I need to get the correct socket, my current socket set goes up to 30mm, ideally want to buy one socket instead of taking the trial and error route.

Also the six nuts which hold the drive shaft in place any idea which size they are?

cheers

It's either a 30mm multi spline or a 34mm multi spline socket for the hub nut. Think the newer cars are 34mm

The driveshaft bolts will need a male M8 multi spline tool.

Yeah its definatelt not 30mm, I'm reading it can be 34mm or 36mm.

Ok mate thanks

36mm 12 point socket is what I use

Ok cool also one more question are these hub nuts really only one use? So will i have to get a new one? Or can i re use the one i take off?

the 36mm twelve point socket is for the driveshaft nut in the middle of the brake disk. the bolts that hold the driveshaft into the gearbox are multi spline, though i am not sure what size multi spline bit you need, if i had to guess id say 10mm or 12mm. if you haven't got a set id recommend getting one. i managed to buy a set a while ago at a show for about 15 quid which i thought was decent value.

edit: if vw say they are id guess they are best only used once. it might be worth buying new as they cant be that expensive :)
