1.6 StormTrooper 6n

Featured Replies

Bought this a while back in September I have a gallery but no project thread. I don't have any photos of what it looked like when I got it but would have looked something like this.

I'm sure you all know what a standard white 6n looks like but just so you can see the change.

Then the usual first modification, de-badge. also pressed plates in for the original plastics.

Then next was to refurb my wheels. I rushed these to begin with because they were awful slowly getting round to doing them properly now.

The flicks of white paint is from the amount of T-Cut I had to use to stop my paint being matte white.

During:

I will try to get some photos of them as they are now, uploaded for tomorrow.

Then did this...

This being the operative word.. I have'n't done the other one yet. Over spray is on tape, not discs :)

It got dark by the time second coat dried.

Changed my pollen filter, had SuperFans after... crazy power change!

Before:

I had barely driven it at this point so I don't know where the previous owner drove it but all this type of stuff was all over the engine bay.

After:

Sparkling!

I tinted my orange indicators red. 'L' Plates are now gone! Had to T-Cut some off as my friend was driving behind me after work and said my right one was darker and it was hard to see when indicating and breaking. I'm glad my examiner didn't say they were bad.. he got me to check them before we left the test center but all went well.

Some Interior modifications:

I also done my sun visors in this material, they look very cool! I have a led interior light and a 6n2 gear knob with white stitch leather gaitor. I'll try get some photos of those tomorrow too. (camera's gonna be busy, better write a list!)

Cleaned up my grill:

I would extremely recommend tar remover then back to black or something similar (mine was asda own brand with Autoglym tar remover) the plastic looks brand new and made this achievable: may have had rainex on the same cloth.. could explain the beading, I can't remember.

WP_20140111_001.jpg

also "broke" my badge apart to paint the inside, the clip annoyed me so I snapped it to get it apart. Its been fine since.

Going to make that all for now but there are more updates just wait and see! :)

Thanks for looking.

Well I have some lowering springs but debating weather to put them on and not tell my insurance or to wait until next year where my insurance will go down. I do have some other material ideas but gonna keep those a surprise as i'm not sure on them yet. I would love some new wheels they are kind of letting it down but cost is a problem and I have 2 brand new rears on my current wheels so maybe when these need renewing.

Here's the sun visors, a bit tricky to do but well worth it. I love leaving them down when I park.

After a good clean and buff today.

My bonnet is so hard to get a good as other panels. A quarter of it is really good but the rest not so good, I dunno what I would have done differently before but must have got bored as its only a bit. Any ideas anyone? I was thinking about getting some clay and giving that a go.

Does need a clean but here's one anyway.

Didn't mask the tyre as thought I was getting new ones but run out of money. I tried getting it off but not much luck.

A few updates..

Satin blacked door handles.

Painted wheels white with silver rim.

Lots of interior changes but no photos of that yet hopefully take some tomorrow. (Trimming and a 6n2 handbrake from a nice gentleman on here.)

Ooh and stickers! almost forgot, lots of stickers. Love the rear ones but no sure on the fronts, run out of space.

I think that is all.

Went for a drive to find some places for photos and my card wasn't in my camera so phone photos it is. Beautiful places though, will have to go back if I can find it.

Looking good so far! I'm waiting till next year for my coil overs as well cos of the cost of insurance is mental! but it's defiantly going to happen eventually ;) haha

  • Author

Thanks mate, I still haven't got round to changing the front springs because the bloody bolts wouldn't undo! I'm hoping to cut them off on Sunday and put the 2nd hand ones on but we'll see how that goes. I desperately want wheels!

Haha second hand car problems! my number plates were rusted on and i had to grind them off! New ones came today so week see how they fit soon :S haha Nice one. I just bought some more original 6n wheels as i needed new tires any way and these ones came with the tyres and they are a LOT less scuffed and rusted than my ones, putting them on this sunday :) and by the way, did you sort out the problem with disk space on here? I'm having the same problem :/

  • Author

Rusted on number plates! Lol mine were fine. Nope! Certainly didn't I just uploaded to photobucket and copy the img tags. A lot easier.. Next mod is wind deflectors I'm thinking, just need some money!

  • Author

Thank you :) I will have to take some pictures, I'm pretty sure I like them but its not one of those mods where you think... Damn! That looks amazing. They do make the car look a bit fatter which is good. I'm going for a few jdm influences now. I don't have the money to do it properly but just a few bits here and there.

A few updates to the polo...

Blue mini imola wheel cost me £60 and a tow home from a friend from north London back to Brentwood when my clutch cable snapped. I re-painted them myself, very happy with them.

Blue VW front badge, not sure if I like it yet..

My mk3 golf re-trimmed seats that should be with me, tomorrow or wednesday!! so exited!!

Give me them seats!

They are rather sexy aren't they.. I need to sort out the rest of the interior now. 6n2 door cards next on the shopping list!

What have people done with their dashboards?..

I was thinking flock it myself but I've had mixed reviews from people.. I spayed my door cards which are the same material as the dash and they look terrible. I'm gonna get some plastidip and give that a go. Anyone else used plastidip on their dash?

Get the door cards and dash flocked professionally. Would be a much longer lasting and better looking finish.

Or if you want 6n2 door cards fit the 6n2 dash as well

  • Author

Yeah but that means taking out the dash.. I've bought some plastidip so I'll give that ago on the elephant skin dash. The whole door cards flocked would be a bit too much flocking I think. I'm gonna retrim some 6n2 ones in blue suede to match the seats when some crop up for a 5 door.

looks really good mate, absolutely love the sun visor idea that you done, might have to steal it haha. also loving the wheel choice and interior turn around, keep up the good work!

I might retrim them in blue to match the seats. I do love my seats, the most expensive thing I've bought for my car apart from my clutch! Lol.

I'm so not happy with the way it sits though, I need to space the fronts and rears a bit more and roll my arches and maybe that will sort the stance out.

Might be rolling my arches myself on Sunday so we'll see how that goes.
