hi, I've been on this forum for a while now, ever since I got my polo, but as I am just restoring it atm and not doing anything to it I haven't put it on as I thought people wouldn't want to hear about me restoring a polo.

but I'm bored and have some spare time so I'm putting it on.

I got the car in November last year now (2013) after going to leister, and then getting my dad to drive it home (as if I wanted to get a day insurance it would be too expensive, and my dad got it for free) then when we got home I had one half hour drive around a big carpark near my house. and then occasionally driving it from the garage to the driveway (all 5m) so yeah its been drove by me loads.

the car is a parade, which was the last cars they built out of the mk2's before they moved on to the mk2f in 1991. there are only about 32 polo parades left, so its a rare car, and this is one of the reasons I love it so much.

so the timeline from buying it to now.

the car was in perfect condition when I got it, apart from a few bits of rust. but what 23 year old car doesn't have rust?

i could see some rust on the sill but i didn't know how bad it was until i took off the plastic cover and found a massive hole. so i had to spend a lot of money getting the sill replaced to get rid of the rust. and i say a few other bits of rust on the car so i took them all back to bare metal.

I've now put primer on the car and hopefully this weekend should have the first coat of colour on the car. as I've had the royal blue colour specially made for the car.

now before anyone says anything about home spray jobs. you will be able to tell where I've done it, when you have a good look and know where I've done. if you don't know that I've done it, and you don't have a really good look you will never be able to tell. but in not giving the whole car a re-spray, or not at least yet. this is not just for old cars that you can tell when someone has sprayed the car, its on all ones you can tell if you look for it.

i cannot wait until i get my car on the road and when I'm driving it for the first time, i will have the biggest smile on my face.

the car is stock atm and there is a lot of plans of what i want to do to it. but I'm open to suggestions, and i will happily take some advise on what you think i should do to it. as long as its nothing stupid. it will just be giving me some good ideas.

it is getting lowered before you say it, and i am planning to get rid of those awful steelys as soon as its on the road.

what do you think of banded steelys? and does anyone know anyone who can do them around Yorkshire?

i will be adding to this, and ill keep up to it with what i do to my car but when i will be i do not know.

it was an icy day and I thought this looked great, my mum tried to get the ice off the windscreen, just to find out that there was ice on the inside and gave up haha
