So started to see plasti dip becoming more and more common.

I'm thinking of using plasti dip to paint my rims.

Anyone used plasti dip here? Any reviews?

Also I've got a black polo on montreal 2 alloys any colour suggestions are welcome :)

I've read up a lot on it

Pros:

*reversible

*easier to apply

Cons:

*Pain in the arse to clean - brake dust loves it

*Petrol, tyre cleaner and other chemicals break it down or permanently stain it.

*Limited on colours

I got my wheels refurbed and powder coated for £20 a wheel. It's going to cost £7 per wheel to plastidip as you need a whole can per wheel.

If you go with it blaze purple seems a nice colour.

My Ronals are heavily corroded around the lip of the wheel and actually let air escape they're that bad lol, would plastidip/powdercoating sort that problem?

Yeah i heard cleaning it can be a pain, the big pro for me is you can just spray it on witthout taking your wheels off and it takes a matter of hours for it to be ready ampnd good to go.

If i wanted to respray my alloys id have to take em off sand em down spray wait for it to cure at least 24hrs then apply lacquer and wait for that to dry its just too long lol.

Not sure plasti dip would stop air escaping from your wheels matt, not sure about powdercoating.

make sure to use genuine plasti dip because I've heard of alternatives damaging the paint

I've seen a few occasions of genuine Plastidip mullering paint but that is probably down to application/who did it in the first place...

Tbh using cans of the stuff to do wheels by yourself should be fine and pretty easy, that's unless you'd want to pay someone else to do it? (doing a whole car is where it tends to get awkward and expensive if you mess it up) It's pretty damn durable (except from the to the things listed above) and to clean it's as simple as jetwashing/bucket and sponge but obviously if you opt for a matte finish it may look patchy whilst it's still wet... Also a good coating to help protect/preserve - grit, corrosion etc.

I dipped my wheels a bit back (in the kitchen!), black centre leaving the lip chrome.

Really easy stuff to spray with, I used two cans to do 4 wheels with multiple coats per wheel.

The finish of the genuine stuff is spot on!

I wasn't too keen on them after I'd run them for a couple of days so i removed it, Peels off nice and easy!

I'd say I did around 3 coats per wheel, the dip was pretty thick when I peeled it off.

I imagine the more coats you apply the longer it'll last and more durable it'll be.
