How do I remove interior mirror from "ball joint" for wrapping.

Featured Replies

I want to wrap my interior mirror I've seen someone do it with a golf and they took the glass out and it all apart so its easier. I have a mk4 6n 5 door 1996 if it makes any difference.

Thanks!

No need to remove the glass.

The part that mounts the mirror to the windscreen can be removed, once off the car you can pull the mirror part off the ball joint. .

Twist the mirror mount to one side, you'll feel it pop off and then you can remove it.

Do the same to re fit it.

Do not try and just remove the mirror part and leave the mount in place, you will get it off easy enough, but when trying to re fit you will break your windscreen!

Brilliant, thanks. I knew someway it could break my windscreen but didn't know how.. Lucky I asked before doing it. I'll give it a go and create a guide thread if there's not one already.

Thanks again!

Done it. The most tricky thing I've trimmed, not too happy with it though, looks a bit 'gash' when you're inside the car.. Looks fine outside though.
