Featured Replies

i keep getting

00533 - Idle Speed Regulation
09-10 - Adaptation Limit Surpassed

on vagcom, the engine is aex 1.4 8v. one minute the car runs fine then next either runs on 2 cylinders or wont even cough, it seems very random. 00533 is the only fault code i get. I've changed nearly all the sensors and throttle body, I've also done the basic settings adaption. can anyone help. I'm really out of ideas now

thanks for the info, it shows adaptation limit exceeded and reached but not surpassed are they all basically the same, would 00533 cause the car not to start? or run on only 2 cylinders?

Surpassed is the same as exceded, but that code would not cause it to run only on two cylinders, I'd be looking more at the ignition side of things, distrubutor cap, leads, plugs etc or could even be the hall sensor in the distributor.

I've replaced the leads, distributor and rotor arm. I've also got another hall sensor. the ignition timing seems to be off is their any way i can get it back on track, currently the the car coughs if i put the distributor full lock one way. I've checked the leads are on correctly

is it possible to do it with a vagcom cable?

You might need the full licenced version of vagcom/VCDS as the unlicenced version has limited functions

i have the full version, only thing i dont have is the pin number for the ecu

You don't need any pin number just go to the basic settings box
