Featured Replies

Hi polo people. Can anyone help with my dilema. I need to replace a range motor and the plastic slidy bracket thingy. I got replacements but.....I dont have vagcom etc. Will the new motor default to last known setting? Will it follow the good one and reset itself ?....I dont want to fry some ecu so please tell if you've changed one without vagcom and any problems that cropped up.

Cheers planet polo.

Assuming you do not, before you fit the new motor into the headlight, connect the wiring to the motor and switch on the ignition and dipped beam, this will make the motor reposition to the setting of the range control knob (put it @ 0) then switch all off and fit then fit the motor, then test it to make sure it's working OK and then get the alignment checked

If you do have HID's you should'nt have the range control knob by the headlight switch and you'll then need Vagcom/VCDS to set the automatic levelling to zero before you can accurately set the headlight alignment
