A Tripple 7 would be hard to hide if it landed @ an airfield with all the US military satellite coverage of the area's concerned, To dissable the ACARS they are talking about just needs someone to open the hatch in the FWD galley and drop down into the E&E bay and pull the ACARS unit or pull the relevant circuit breaker in the flight deck

Exactly Nick, Its a 200 tonne aircraft, you can't hide it behind a few palm trees!! with all the NATO (USA) satellite survelance of the Arabian Gulf area and the inland area's they should be able to see any historic heat sources of a landing A/C of that size

I think it was landed somewhere, surly if it has crashed in the ocean there would be at lest a little debris washed up or spotted? Mode you there was that French plane that was found at the bottom of the sea complete. And a small rowing boat which had floated around the world for years.
