6N Coilovers with Admiral - They want to cancel my policy!

Featured Replies

So I have done a few minor cosmetic changes to my little 6N and have declared them all to my insurer (Admiral) and so far its only increased by ~£36 annually! I rung up to quote for coilovers before I buy any and first off they didn't have a clue what they were so I explained and we agreed it was for improved handling.

Long and the short of it is they called me back after a few days for a quote only to tell me they (or at least their underwriters) don't cover them and if I fitted and declared them they would cancel my policy.

What exactly can I do about this? Don't really want to go down the non-declaring route, and i've only got a month and a half left on the policy so a change of insurer is possible.

Thanks Luke :)

If you're modding your car you are best forgetting about the mainstream insurers i.e. Admiral group, Direct Line, etc. as they either don't insure mods or bump up the price heaps for technical mods such as suspension and engine mods.

I'd try insurers like Sky Insurance, Adrian Flux etc, they are both on here. Or any other specialist companies, you're probably going to have to phone them all but it will be worth it to be totally legal.

Ok I shall most likely get in touch, my policy ends on may 5th.

In the mean time, is there any other name for coilovers that they would recognise and be more understanding of?

Cheers guys

Adjustable rideheight suspension?

Lowered <50mm :ninja:

If I was you I would ride out your policy and then swap insurers so you will not lose your NCB, also its only till may you need to wait to.

Sounds a bit funny why they will not cover this or even know what it is. Maybe try again with a different operator on the phone. You could try suspension changes or uprated suspension or maybe suspension/lowered/stiffened.

When your renewal is a little closer please PM me your details and I will see what we can offer.

Regards

Dan
