Hey guys,

My name's Sean, I've just recently purchased a 6N 1999 1.4 8v Polo in Grey.

Used to be a jap guy and now joined German.. it's the first VW I've ever owned and I absolutely love the car, it's ace.

I picked it up from a slightly younger dude than myself, I'm not too sure if it was his first car but he has done a couple of modifications to it, I personally like them and for the price I paid for the vehicle I can't complain with the extra's involved!

I've got plenty of pictures there for it, I just need to stop being lazy and get them uploaded!

I've joined to get some motivation and advice about the car..! Obviously not owning a VW before I'm not 100% aware of the common faults/problems (if there are any!) and how to overcome them.

Anyway.. a bit long winded but thanks for your time!

Cheers,

Sean.

Welcome along

Common problems for 1.4 8v

Clutch cable

Pedal box

Various running faults caused by plugs/leads/distributer/coolant temp sensor

Literally loads of common problems! But you'd be unlucky to get then all at once and usually loads of them will have been done in past so you may not have many troubles

Hi Matt,

Thanks mate,

I've owned the car about 2 months now, other than a knocking exhaust which is because one of the rubbers has snapped.. I've been pretty lucky so far!

But yeah you are right, I searched for months before I bought one, mine has a tonne of receipts and history to go with it so I'm confident with it so far, failing that though it's a very easy car to work on and get around with..!

Thanks for the heads up.
