With the standard of cars on here it got me thinking about mine. Its a 98 valver with 65,000mls and it owes me about £1500 with the purchase price and what I've spent on it so far which has all been mechanical. It drives really well and pretty quick for a 1.4 and has never let me down once. So I took some pics of the bodywork which is what concerns me most. I have loads of plans which will cost a fair heap of cash but I could move it on and buy something else needing less work. Honest opinions would be really appreciated.

Well you gona have to start worry about arches and side skirts cause of the rust otherwise they will be really expensive to repair. The sooner you get rid of the rust the better. Leave doors for later time, if they fall appart, fine u can buy them for cheap if you need.

I fall in love with cars and spend as much as I can on them. And there's no better feeling than seeing your car for the first time after it's been sprayed. It only needs the two doors, rear quarters and sills spraying. Just ring round for quotes.

mine is in a similar condition to yours.my plan is to tidy up the body and then do a full wrap.basic matt or gloss wrap should cost under 150 in almost any colour you like if you do it yourself.if you leave your shuts and under the bonnet alone then you don't have to declare it I believe but something to check 1st.you have to get the prep right though else it shows through.

Doors are easily acquirable and I'm fairly sure you wouldn't struggle that much to get some of the same colour (think there's a pair on eBay right now actually). Sort the arches out before they get beyond redemption; removable panels can wait as they won't compromise the entire car as much. Doesn't seem in too much of a bad state to get it sorted, if I were you I'd keep it and sort it out but obviously depends on how much it's going to end up costing you and how much you like the car

It's not pretty in terms of bodywork most 6ns are like this. The key to older cars is service regular but from experience don't spend money for the sake of it on big wheels etc.

You will never get your money back at 1500 as even minters are not worth that much, my advice would be rub the rusty bodywork down and treat yourself then just run it. If your thinking of modding and spending money on it then maybe think about a 6n2 as they are better body wise.
