Polo G40 1991 J reg

For sale is my genuine mk3 VW Polo G40, I have owned it for a couple of years now and put a lot of time effort and money into it.

I'm going to be up front straight away she has been in storage for a year but always started up regularly to keep it running smoothly.

The picture aren't current but I will be adding current pictures asap once I have given it a proper once over.

I have rebuilt the engine using genuine Vw parts and have all the receipts with all the service history. When I was using the car regularly I serviced it religiously every 5000 miles. This car is still my favourite car to drive it always surprises me and everyone it comes up against on the road. It handles amazingly and pulls well indeed (not that much slower than my S3)

Bad points

Lacquer peeling on the front nearside panel

Boot compression arm needs replacing

Heater fan broken, temperature control for cabin temperature broken

Minor rust

Here's a list of the mods and work carried out.

Engine rebuild including new

Bearings big end and main

Piston rings

Oil pump

Reconditioned head with new:

Valve guides

Cut and lapped valves

New head bolts

All new gaskets and seals

New distributor cap and rotary arm

New timing belt and water pump

Mods:

Satge 4/full blend supercharger

Helix organic clutch

GT inlet manifold (Slightly ported)

4-2-1 exhuast manifold (slightly ported)

Ported head

Decat

65mm pulley

Drilled grooved discs and fast road/track pads

Boost gauge

Oil pressure gauge

Bilstein dampers with Koni springs on the front and Koni dampers and springs on the rear (60/40)

Strut Brace on the back

Current mileage is 139,000 (rebuild at 131,000) and rising (in daily use)

Has Tax and MOT will have to double check how long left on each

As for price I have put in a lot of time into this car as well as £2500+ of parts so does owe me a lot

Price 1 - £2000 as it stands

Price 2 - £2500 all the niggles sorted and potentially the spares I have to go with it (spare charger etc etc)

The engine rebuild came about due to the blank popping out of the oil pump. One morning I started her up and the oil light was flashing non stop, so obviously I didn't drive it anywhere. After seeking advice for various friends and forums i was lead to believe there might be play in the bearings. So engine came out started to pull it apart, got down to the bottom end took the sump off we found the blank from the oil pump. As the engine was apart I decided to rebuild it anyway even though a new pump would of sorted the problem.

Chargers, the one on the car was serviced 500 miles before it was put on the car and the spare one will probably need a service to be honest.

Would you be interested in a mk4 golf PD150 running about 190bhp/220lb/ft, 6 speed, sitting on Ronal split rims, Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks? Heated seats, cruise control, "follow me home" lights, clifford alarm (installed by VW) Pioneer head unit etc.
Its on 227k miles but has full FSH (mostly from VW) and had an engine rebuild @ 190k which was carried out by Volkswagen in Stowmarket so really has only done 37k miles. Its an anniversary but without the trim items (big splitter etc). Original owner was invited to Wolfsburg to collect the car and receive a tour of the factory...

In case anyone misunderstood, the engine temp gauge works perfectly the engine never goes above 85-90 degrees. The heater fan and temperature control dial are the faulty items.

Here's a few more pictures on request of the car and said rust had a proper clean up and polish today.
