I have for sale the gearbox I bought from Yoof a couple of months ago. Its not been run or fitted since I bought it.

Details:

G40 (ATV)

Rebuilt by JP Race at Silverstone less than 10000miles ago

New VW 5th gear set

New VW Diff seals & bearing when Quaife was fitted (less than 500miles)

Currently has Morris XFS LSD oil (£81 for 5 litres!)

Quaife LSD less than 500 miles, TSR currently selling for £666.78 (RRP £702.00)

New VW fixings used with Quaife install

Box is mint, ready to drop straight in. G40 box is £250, rebuild £250, Quaife £666.78, Box Oil £81, Diff seals, bearings and bolts £65. Total over £1300!!

Asking £850ono collection from Kettering in the evenings/weekends, or Silverstone during the day.

Hi, so this box has got standard g40 ratios, also what ratios the diff, looking for a good gearbox for my 6n2 polo gti

Hi there,

The ratios are stock G40, and should be as follows. Speed will depend on what tyre size and hence diameter you are using.

If you want to give me your tyre diameter I can work out speeds for you.

Not sure what engine your running in the gti though but I think the original would have had a cable change gearbox where as this a rod change box.

Arh nice, running 1.6 16v gti polo lump as it's a gti, my gearbox is on it's way out, been looking and there's loads of rubbish boxes for sale, lads trying to pass off non gti 085 boxes, also the diff in mine is a 3.88 final I believe as it's a gti and non gti is 3.88, read somewhere that cable change can be adapted to fit earlier boxes but would have to look into it.

Should have said diff in mine is 3.61

Final drive on any G40 gearbox is 3.33. The Quaife diff doesn't change this

I'll add, £850 is well worth it. If I didn't already have a brand new Quaife and 2 G40 boxes, I'd have bought this.

You have to change part of the gearbox casing if you want to swap between rod change and cable change......I've done this for my Autocross Polo

or just use the rod from the lower spec models which are not cable change. I'm sure i have seen this done.
