recently bought a 2001 polo 1.4 (6n2?) but it has a wobbly/sloppy gear lever when in gear? i expect a little bit of movement but this doesnt seem right? i was thinking maybe a rubber or spring could be worn out but not really sure?

Check the ball and socket joint underneath these can wear if not packed with grease
